Ok, sorry for being the new guy barging in with a lot of questions, but I am a boat nerd and ponder things often.
In the impossible process of trying to find the perfect boat, I think we're very close with the 895 Sport. We are a family of 4 with two kids 4 and 6 who love the water and fishing. I'm the dad who fishes offshore with the guys for halibut and tuna, offshore and inshore for salmon and everything else the PNW has to offer with the family we but also enjoy cruising/boaterhoming. What drew us to this boat is it seems to do a pretty good job at most things I do and meets the requirements of sleeping 4 and is trailerable with a 3/4 ton and has an enclosed pilothouse.
The cockpit floor storage compartment seems quite spacious, but then seems like a pretty poor place to load coolers, either hard or soft-sided due to the saltwater getting in the battery compartment, or the locations of the thru-hulls. I'm trying to figure out what people have done for large fish storage on these boats. I wish I was successful all the time with the big ones, not the case, but we do get lucky every so often with a haul of Albacore or large halibut. I've had to process on the boat before to make space, but that's not always ideal cutting up fish on the the big water in small boats.
Thanks again!
