Vanity wood piece needs re-glue

This wood piece came off my SO 389's vanity. After one year and 3 months :-)
Somebody was a bit sloppy with the glue.
What would you recommend to use to re-glue the piece in place?
Epoxy, super glue, or even using screws?
The purpose of this piece is to hold the cabinet door latch when closed. Hence it is subjected to some push and pull forces.
