Hi all,
I want to add a "city water" connection to the boat. There is a line that appears to run to the stern deck shower - I was going to tap into the water system there. I removed the screws holding the shower and knobs to the hull, but it seems to be "sealed on". Has anyone removed that unit? Or has anyone added city water somewhere else?
Thanks!

Aaron My boat has a city water connector right next to the shower tap. Very useful, but be sure to verify the connections and that the in-hose pressure is not too high: had some small leak on the in-hose that was constantly sending water to the bildge. Not that much, but sufficient for the bildge pump to work once a day. Luckily was living in boat at the time, so I noticed right away. Best Pedro PA

Tapping into your deck shower hose could give you some problems, such as cross connection with your hot water, and it won't fill your water tanks because it is on the discharge side of your water pump. You also run the risk of overpressurizing the water system, so at the very least you would need to install a pressure reducing valve on the inlet.
Are you hoping to live aboard, and run off city water instead of your water tanks? If so I would be inclined to run a separate water pipe from the transom to just downstream of your pump and accumulator, with a valve to isolate your water pump. I would then set the PRV to the same pressure as your pump. That way you can be sure your hot and cold water will function the same as when you are running off your pump.

I just did a test - connecting a dock hose to a Jabsco water entry regulator and into the boat's plumbing - and it works great.
Pedro, can you post a picture or tell me where the city water inlet is relative to the transom shower unit? It looks like there is room underneath - as long as I don't puncture the pipes to the shower when I drill the hole for the regulator!
Thanks!
