Hello, I have bought a used SO49 from 2004. She is fitted with second forestay and double anchor rollers.
We would like to fit her with a Furling Gennaker/ Asym. Spinnaker. The best usage for this is to have a bowsprit in some form.
Has anyone already done something like this? We would like to work with minimal changes to the yacht. My preferred solution would be using the Spinnaker Pole, placing it on deck, connected to the mast and laying on the second anchor roller with some kind of padding. Open would be if the pole can work on that load and how to hold it down.
Has anyone any ideas, which do not involve buying a bowsprit for 1000€ and bolting new latches to the deck?

A spinnaker pole is designed for compression loads, they are simple aluminum tube. If you try to use it as a bowsprit without a bobstay to take the load you will probably bend or break it. The Selden bowsprits have an internal structure that gives them the stiffness to handle the tack loads. I would think any decent solution is going to require some modification to your boat. Some people get permanent fiberglass or carbon sprits similar to 389 and 419 models installed. You can also get a custom stainless steel sprit made up. The deck mounted Selden sprit is probably the simplest solution, but you do need to install the padeyes on the deck. ( pretty simple diy job). Either way it is going to cost you some money to do it right. Your boat is pretty big, the loads are high. If you are going to do it, you need to do it right!

Yes, I agree. Doing it right is cheaper than doing it somehow.
Thanks for your feedback. I hoped maybe Jeanneau had a pre-installed thing there, like the winch bases, which are already installed.

Here's what we did on our SO42DS...wasn't cheap, but it has worked flawlessly. Gennaker rig

You may be able to get a kit that replaces one of your anchor rollers with a ring for the sprit. That's what we have.

It looks like its going to be a Selden Gennaker Boom. I just have to figure out, if her anchor-roller can fit the custom Jeanneau boom ring and where to mount the Gennaker boom on deck, since there is a hatch in the way. :-D
