Morning All, happy to say we've just signed a purchase agreement for a 2016 NC11 that's currently just north of Chicago but will be coming to it's new home in Detroit in April. We love the boat, layout and flexibility - looking forward to many long summers on board. Twin D3-200, radar, joystick, generator, under 250 hours
Questions and Things we are thinking of..
1/ Has anyone added an additional fridge/cold storage. I don't think the one will hold the beer and the food 2/ We'll be looking to add a rear enclosure to extend the season - I see one source in Europe but haven't spoken to a local dealer yet - any leads? 3/ We're thinking of adding a couple of folding teak chairs for in the cockpit, anyone carrying them/is there enough space? 4/ Any unique maintenance things we should look for/at 5/ As far as I can tell adding skyhook/station holding is not an option despite the joystick/radar/gps

Hello Chris, Congratulations on the new boat.
We're also in metro Detroit with an NC11. The boat is presently in Annapolis but we'll be bringing it back to Michigan in the spring. Happy boating and see you on Lake St Clair! Richard

Hi Chris,
I have a 2011 NC it 11 up in Collingwood and Georgian day. Perhaps I will see you in the North channel sometime?
I have a fridge/freezer that is portable that I put in the forward hold. I think it is a Dom tech model. These are excellent as you can make them into a freezer or a fridge depending on what you need. They run on both DC and AC.
I think the best thing for the rear enclosure is ask around at youR marina as to who is the best local canvas shop. I can certainly send you pictures of mine. I think it was factory installed but it should not be very hard to replicate.
I bought some teak chairs on Amazon along with a folding table. I just store them either laying down on the deck when underway, or I put some of them in the engine hold.
As for maintenance I think it is important to make sure you change the oil regularly, as well as all of the fuel filters. Make sure you know how to drain water from the filters because if the alarm goes you must shut down your engine to avoid damage. My mechanic also removes both drives every season to check them. It’s worth changing their oil etc. Your boat is fairly new with low hours but you should change the bellows on a fairly regular basis. Every trip or two, or at least before any long trip I checked all of the fluids including the coolant and for the power steering.
I’ve done quite a number of modifications. I would suggest perhaps looking at getting solar panels stitched onto your canvas extension at the same time you were having it made. With the solar panels we can stay at anchor for several days without any issue for the batteries and not even running the generator. I’ve also added a microwave, television, stereo speakers, LED lights, kayak racks, water tank level meter, mosquito screen to cover the entire back sliding door, New barbecue that slides into a rod holder on the starboard side of the cockpit. Also did new cushions for the bow and had privacy screens made for all of the windows. Last summer I also got some oil that you would use around your furnace etc., and cut it to put on the windshield and the sunroof, which made a huge difference It was really hot in the sun beating on the glass. You do get a bit of a greenhouse effect.
Happy to answer any questions, just let me know. I can give you my email if you prefer.

Hi Chris,
LOL I forgot to mention some of the other projects, which included dinghy davits [these were difficult], folding spotlight mounted on roof, and LED color underwater lights. I think that’s everything, (for now 😉). .

Wow, That's a lot of projects! Congratulations on everything you've done to improve your boat.
One of the reasons we changed from a larger flybridge boat to the NC11 is so that we can get up to Georgian Bay and the North Channel more frequently and more quickly. You're lucky to be nearby. They're truly among the most beautiful cruising grounds anywhere in the world.
If the Canadian/US border reopens this year we may do the Trent Severn again on our way back to Michigan. Quite the adventure on the lift locks and big chute railway!

Hi Richard. Let me know when you’re in the area from north channel to Trent. If you visits west side of GBay also, like Lions Head, Wingfield basin, Tobermory etc. Maybe we can meet up. If you tips on some east shore anchorages into the National Parks just let me know.

Will do! Tobermory side is a favorite.. hopefully with the vaccine available the border will be open by June. Although it's substantially further to return via the Trent Severn it's a trip that is very enjoyable.

Congratulations Chris. Our 11 came with an ARB refrigerator installed in the aft hold on a slider - see attached photo. Honestly, since we are largely weekenders, it probably makes more sense to take a cooler for overflow if needed and save the space in the aft hold, but of course, it depends on the equipment you carry. We are planning to keep an inflatable dinghy in there. If you call up a Jeanneau dealer, you can get a quote for the Jeanneau cockpit enclosure. In our case, it came to $4k, and quotes from custom canvas places were about the same. We decided to forego the cockpit enclosure. Completely agree that adding a water level sensor is a great upgrade. The gauge in the aft hold is inconvenient and hard to read. We bought the KUS brand and the are instructions on installation on this form. We mounted the water level gauge and a 120 watt 12v socket just above the Fusion stereo in the cabin, right by the table. The high output 12v socket let's us charge a MacBook and two iPads directly from the battery without having to worry about an inverter. Finally, we think the Shurhold line of cleaning products is clever and useful. Plus, there are great instructional videos on the website. I cleaned up a fair bit of bilge cheese this weekend and can vouch for the usefulness of Shurhold's Serious Marine Cleaner. I have listed a lot of the gear we purchased at this site.

Interested in what you did, can I bug you for some information?
