Hi all,
2002 SO 43DS.
Originally had a Fisher Panda generator but that has now gone (defunct) so am looking to add small inverter and include that such that when I switch to old GEN position on distribution panel, it switches to inverter and the few sockets on board are live. They need to remain live when the switch is on SHR (Shore Power) as well. Any tips or tricks? The previous owners just had a 110v inverter wired across batteries and then the output socket was onto a power lead which went to 3 US-spec sockets added after market. I want to use the existing European sockets and then also have a breaker in line to avoid overloads etc.
Any help or pointers to old posts appreciated.
Thanks

If you upgrade to a charger inverter combo unit you can run your shore power panel off the inverter. The combo unit will automatically pass through shore power when available, and power the panel off the inverter when shore power is not available. You just want to make sure that big amp loads like water heaters are not on the inverter.
I am looking to do something similar on my boat because I need a bigger charger. I am looking at the Xantrex Freedom XC products as well and the Mastervolt Combimaster line.

Thanks Zaphod but those combined are quite pricey. Might just connect outlets on a lead and connect to inverter 'as is' for now (not ideal). We shall see what I can find on the wiring and how confident I am.
