2014 B&G G4 Radar has suddenly stopped working. Followed the SIMRAD / B&G troubleshooting guide (see below) and found no faults ... yet. Under Radar Status, -> Scanner Info indicates Type : No Scanner, Software Version : 0.0., Serial Number : No Radar. Under Network DEVICES, DEVICE: RI10 - Broadband Radar Software Version: 1.4.1 Model: 1.0.2 Address: 10 S/N: 1306E ... Status: OK There is Power to the RI10 unit (despite no indicator light above the power cable) and there is power at the RI10 going up the mast (12.3V). Ethernet to the MFD (multifunction display) appears to be working ~ NMEA compass direction both work and are displayed. Have yet to check the end of the cable at the Dome itself but do not look forward to doing the work while at height up the mast. The outage occurred at the same time I removed previous owners routes from the log. (Did I reset something else?) So, #1 check the dome end of the cable. Got that. Is there a way of testing the dome transmitter? Could the RI10 be the fault? Anyone had similar issue? A bit puzzled as to where to turn next. Thoughts and / or advise appreciated. The issue is not at deck level. Heading up the mast .......... .
To be continued.

Hi, I had exactly the same issue with my Simrad 3G radar unit (from 2012) a few months ago, same error messages. Ended up taking the radome off the mast and sending it back with the RI10 unit to Simrad UK for checking. The radome was found to be faulty. Rather than repair, they could only offer a reconditioned replacement for 1/2 retail cost of new. The replacement arrived last week, looks brand new to me. Going to refit this weekend hopefully.

You might try a auto search for devices on the mfd. My Zeus 2 occasionally randomly looses devices. Frustrating. Good luck.

I have a Zeus Touch. Any idea where the search function is on the menu? I've already powered up and down a number of times so I would have thought the MFD would have initiated a search but if there's a menu option, I'd give that a try. Thanks BC

You might want to check for oxidation in and around the cable plug that connects to the scanner . I have Raymarine equipment , but oxidation and compromised contacts know no brand . My rader was left unused for 4 years until I found out , last year before leaving the boat in winter storage , a few of the (8 ) contacts failed to connect due to oxidation . No sure about B&G , but the Raymarine analog radar cable connector is silly and fragile . In July , after lockdown and returning to the boat , I’ve bypassed this connector by soldering new leads , 8 of them , on the print and used a proper connector between scanner and cable . And guess what , no more message on the plotter “ scanner not found “ ! My radar is back online .
Just saying , it could be a possibility .
Regards

I found the AUTO SELECT on the MFD and it did not reboot the system. I heading up the mast to take a look at the radome end of the cable at next possible opportunity. Working at height with a volt meter ought to be real fun. Thanks again. BC

Just to update; voltage through the cable to the radar dome is good. It would now appear the system issued up to the dome, which I have now unplugged, un-bolted and lowered to the deck; a rather exciting experience that I would rather not repeat.
I'm going to have the unit bench tested by a radio/radar specialist unless anyone can suggest options for a hands-on technician.
Thx

Thx BC I also found the process of taking down the Simrad radar dome stressful! FYI, have made a net bag round the new dome with a top strop connection for a halyard to help installation, idea is I can cut this away once the dome is secure.

We have Radar!
The issue appears to have been the configuration and the M1 WiFi unit.
The RI10 Radar was "Daisy-chained" through the M1. I installed a NEP-2 and there it is! Radar is working properly. But now the M1 is not registering (through the NEP-2). Direct to the Zeus Touch and it works but it would seem the (updated, current) software gets a bit confused when running both M1 Wifi and the RI10 radar modules.
Still, I'd far rather have the Radar operational than the WiFi.
