Hi Me and my wife are proud owners of a new Merry Fisher 695. Our former boat was a Yamarin 59ht that we felt that we had developed as far as we could regarding equipment and adventures, it was time to make life on sea a little more comfortable. We live on the westcoast of Sweden but since my wife is from the eastcoast we spend most of our summer hollidays on the eastcoast an use a trailer to transport our boat between the coasts. This limits the size of boat but I must say that after these first weeks with our new boat we have found the perfect model for us. The on board comfort is far greater and we can cope without problems a ”classic swedish summer” consisting of both nice sunny days and rainy chilly ones. I found this forum due to my search for tips regarding trim tab mounting on our boat. A bit complicated since the transom is curved. I found a very nice thread where all was very nice discribed for our bigger sister boat MF795. Desided to join to express my gratitude to those guys involved in that thread. I mounted tabs on my old 59ht and found out that tabs are a must on a motor boat (I’m originally a sailor). Seems like most MF695 are not equipped with trim tabs but I will for sure mount tabs during winter. We will probably build some storage under the sink as well as shelves etc. There is NO space to store things in an organized way. We ordered the boat with windlass, canopy, bow thruster, bowsprit and heater so life on board has been very comfortable :-) dispite this chilly and windy summer. A very nice forum, thanks a lot! Magnus

Hi Magnus, welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find friendly like minded boating people here along with a treasure trove of helpful information in the archives. Do remember that many features are shared across different models, so don’t limit your searches to your specific model unless the issue is really very specific.
I sailed in trailerable boats for over thirty years before buying my Jeanneau, so well understand the attraction, and the flexibility it gives in your situation. Always an advantage to trail at highway speeds between harbours, even if a bit slower than when not towing. Along with a safe harbour in a caravan park if the weather is really unkind. It allows you to enjoy a wider range of waterways in limited vacation time, when you can take the short cut overland.
It is a nice step up from your previous boat, and yet still practical to trail. And remember, easy trailering is well worth some compromise in the overall space when you are tempted to go even bigger. The three foot disease is right up there with another pandemic making news at the moment, though fortunately much less serious.
We all look forward to sharing your adventures.
