Is anybody else having issue with retractable dinghy davits leaking water into corresponding lazarets on newer boats? Our davits on Jeanneau 51 leaking bad into corresponding lazarets creating watery mess down there. Been talking to a dealer and Jeanneau America for 2 years now with no luck! Ania

Jeanneau have come up with a fix, which is to form a drain through the rib where the water is trapped and so allow it to drain to the bilge. Your dealer should be able to supple photos and a drawings of what do, and reclaim the cost for you from Jeanneau.

This is what I got from Jeanneau America aftersales guy last year, I don't see channeling into the bilge in the drawing. When I called him this year he dismissed the issue as davits are not even intended to be watertight. Wrote an email to Jeanneau America, they are not replying. Unfortunately they are not watertight even in retracted position. Complete bullish*t on Jeanneau part. Davit option is more than 4000USD. Filling schemed by these people.

You have the correct drawings and photo released by Jeanneau. I agree that the davits were expensive and should have been watertight, but I have only had the odd cup full of water enter and stay trapped by the raised rib. This fix is designed to let the majority of the water drain away and eventually, by way of the various drain holes throughout the hull, reach the bilge and its pump.

Look at your starboard lazaret , water doesn't have way out.
Water accumulates and sits against plywood of the starboard cabin back wall, it's hard to see, but I pumped three gallons of water from there and plywood looks damaged now.
They didn't say anything about boat not being watertight when it was sold to us. I think the fact that they are dismissing the whole issue as a not a big deal is just crazy and something needs to be done.
