I came across this youtube video and it is certainly worth a watch for anyone (couple) wanting an easy way from GB to the Med.

Alenka,
My wife and I found this book before we set off from Ardrossan in Scotland in 2014. We spent the whole summer of 2014 sailing along the east coast of Ireland before using the book to get us as far as the Algarve over 3 seasons.

Very helpful. My planning has started in earnest !! You will have a fantastic time, my advice is to go slow... so many lovely places to see on the way. Well worth joining the Cruising Association, not least for their Captain's Mate app which has loads of very good info. CA membership also will get you quite a lot of discount, we normally save at least the cost of annual membership. There is a 25% discount for new members if you sign up on a direct debit www.jeanneau-owners.com/discounts.html Whilst we have been into Archachon it needs to be treated with a lot of respect and a good alternative route is Les Sables D'Olonne across to Bilbao, with a good weather forecast can be comfortably done within 2 days, and avoids the Landes firing range issues.

Any idea if it works in reverse??
I'll be sailing my SO 469 to Scotland hopefully in mid-late May, on a schedule though so not much time for stopping off and appreciating it.
This is assuming that Brexit and COVID don't hamper it all.

This is assuming that Brexit and COVID don't hamper it all. The Portuguese coast maybe the main difficulty as wind and current will tend to be against you. Although Ian took his 45DS north up that coast I think without too much issue, sure he will reply. Guess it depends on a weather window.

Take it slow!
With Gibraltar now joining the EU Schengen territory many dreams of a slow live-aboard cruise around the Med are no longer possible to Brits without dipping into North African waters for months on end.
There are now numerous on-line petitions pushing for a tit-for-tat 6 month arrangement with the EU in stead of the mere 90 days in 180 that we have to live with whilst they can visit the UK visa free for 180 days at a time. Alas, the support they have gathered is very poor.
