I have noticed my boat is eating through zincs much faster than my old boat did. I am wondering if my boat has a galvanic isolator, and if so, where might it be located? Did Jeanneau install them from the factory circa 2011 or is it something that gets added by owners after purchase?

Hello zaphod
When I bought my 2017 SO 389 I intended to install one based on the research I did. I was then told by the Jeanneau dealership that one was installed already as part of the commissioning. Mine was installed under the aft berth next to the starter battery.
cheers

There is also a battery isolator but nothing that resembles a galvanic isolator. From what I have read it should be installed right after the shore power plug.

My 2014 SO469 did not have one. I actually received mixed advice on whether one is needed for USA locations. But I added a Promariner galvanic isolator easily. One unit covers both 30 amp shore power circuits. Plenty of room to mount it close to the power sockets.

My SO439 (2012) did not have one, so I fitted one in the stern locker near the shore power socket. They are not that expensive compared to the damage that could arise without one!

It seems Trevor and others posted some interesting information about the use of Galvanic Isolators on Jeanneau boats several months ago. It might be worth a read before purchasing an isolator. jeanneau.proboards.com/post/49912/threadThat being said, a galvanic isolator was installed during commissioning of my boat (SO439), located in stern compartment right next to shore power service entrance.
