Does anyone has a S.O 42 DS with a “dogger” or Pilot House mounted? I would be happy to see and eventually copy

I have a Dodger, Bimini with full enclosure. Makes for great shade in summer and warm sailing in Spring and Fall!

Do you mean a solid ‘dodger’ or effectively a solid wheelhouse?
If so, I hope nobody has done that to a 42DS - I can’t imagine it would sit nicely with the beautiful lines! Unless you spent a ton of money getting an Italian superyacht designer to do a drawing!

Probably a solid wheelhouse, sincerely I would not follow this idea, but I am wondering... I guess I have seen one...

We have a 2008 SO42DS. When the canvas needed to be replaced, we looked at possibly adding a custom hard dodger but found most of the designs totally ruined the aesthetic line of the boat. I had a friend of mine who designs FRP structures work on the design also, but in the end, we didn't like what we saw. We stayed with the SS and canvas design we had + added a full enclosure....happy with that decision!

HI thank you . i suspected the style of our great boat is not appropriate fo this fit.
by the way I read you recommend a "full enclosure", do you have drawings and measurements?
best regards

No, I do not have drawings. May I suggest you contact a few local canvas suppliers in your area to get quotes. You can explain what you want and they can custom design the enclosure to your needs. For reference, we used the existing stainless structure, added new Sunbrella replacement canvas + the new enclosure. The cost was around $8K and took about 4 weeks to complete.

hi Antonio
I'm interested as well in a "hard dodger" as I own a SO49 and would like to implement something similar.
Surfing on the web I've found this one : www.tartarooga.com/
let's have a look at it
ciao
Fabrizio

Yes please send me pictures and , if you have, measurements and indications, I am really interested sorry may have confused you here, its not a hard dodger, we had stratoglass installed, this is much clearer, but does mean you cant drop the hood, if its folded the it will crack and have lines. it can be rolled so can open it. ill take some photos and post.
