I would like to add to or replace my primary fuel filter for my Yanmar 4JH45 on a Jeanneau SO419 with a Racor 75500MAX or MAXM filter.
My concern is that the original factory installed filter has a manual priming pump that I use to purge the fuel lines when I replace the canister filter elements for both the primary and secondary filters. If I replace that original filter with the Racor I don't know how I would be able to purge the lines if required.
I would be interested to get some ideas on how others may have solved this issue.

Is there room to keep the old pump equipped filter also? Even with no element if you need to that might be a way to keep that pump.

Hi,
Just remove the old filter and replace it with the new one. you keep using old manual bleeding pump as before. Make up your mind what micron should the new RECOR filter element be. To my humble opinion 10 micron will fit. The change of this filter is a real DIY project.

There are several existing threads on this subject. I contributed to the one titled 'Racor or not to Racor?" Please check it out.

I would be interested to get some ideas on how others may have solved this issue. I have the same boat/engine and had the filter replaced with a Racor 460R (with 30 micron filter), mounted on the left engine compartment wall just in front of the engine-mounted fuel filter. This Racor also has a priming pump, so the original filter was removed. You do loose the water-in-fuel alarm (electrical connection on the existing filter), but the Racor has a sight glass and drain at the bottom of the filter where you'd see any water accumulate. So far has worked great!
