Hi, am proud sun odyssey 28.1 owner. I bought as used-Y1995 two years ago about. It was equiped for coldy Baltic areas. After one sunny year it`s no more possible to stay without bimini top. I have tried to find some used or universal product with no any success so I have decided to built my own. Is there anybody who can help, sell used or advise how to do it by myself ? I have guys who can work well with metal and fabric, but I do not have plans and schemas. Somebody who can help, measure on his boat or.. I do not know. I can spend some money for plans or projects, if needed. Please, let me know, if possible. Many thanks in advance Bill

Hi Bill, I have built both a bimini and a spray dodger for my boat. Have a look at the instructional videos provided by Sailrite (www.sailrite.com). In my case I had a local metal worker bend the steel to my design and did the fabric work myself. For the bimini, the materials plus buying a heavy duty sewing machine was about half the cost of a professionally made product. If you have the time it is not difficult to do. Rob

Thank you both, i have already seen offers on NVEquipment website, it`s still pretty expensive way. I will take a look at sailrite.com website, seems to be a really good source of ideas !
Many thanks, I will let finally know my experience. Bill

Bil,
I have made two dodgers and a couple of biminis along with some other projects. It does take a lot of effort and it is a steep learning curve but with patience, plenty of time and instruction as already outlined by Sailrite, you can do it. It is hard to provide advice on this forum because the project requires a lot of steps. It is well and truly beyond the scope of a post here to provide the information to do this.
If you have specific questions that would easier to answer.
With regard to needing plans, you will need to make a pattern on your particular boat when the stainless bows are installed. You will then cut the canvas to the pattern and go from there. Sailrite does provide great advice.
Regards,
Trevor
