Hi Everyone, Owner of Merry Fisher Marlin 895 - Mercury 250 ProXS V8 I will post some pics / reports soon Hi Gio, I saw you have posted a lot of useful information on the blog. I have a question I am still struggling with. Would you mind sharing (with pics if you have them) where did you installed the VHF on your Sport? I see several instal directly above the helm seat on the starboard side. Personally I am more looking at the fiberglass strip right atop the windshield. Some might argue (rightfully) that the mic cable is going to dangling down infront of the windshield, but there may be a) ways to get the mic cable out of the way or b)relocate the mic away from the VHF. Anyway, just trying to get some ideas of what other users have done. Thanks for the feedback. Idefix

Idefix Hi there, I haven't installed a VHF in my boat as where I live it is not a requirement for this boat size, and we have on board a transponder from the Coastal Guard that can be used for SOS calls in case something goes wrong... Anyways the standard location on starboard side as you mentioned, and i think you are right, atop of the windhield may not be good for the cable swinging in front of you. If i had to install a unit, I would consider something like this one below. It reduce the footprint and you can install on the console anywhere www.simrad-yachting.com/simrad/type/vhf-radios-ais/Otherwise, depending on your final configuration with the yamaha screen, could be placed in the flat space on the console on the right side of the light buttons (where you plan to move the yamaha screen)
