You can purchase flexible hose at a Home Depot (assuming you are in the USA) or similar store and push that tube into the extractor hose to suck out the oil. I've done that for a Fischer Panda where access was limited.

I have an Onan genset on my 479 and its buried as well. I did manage to get a fitting on the oil extraction value. It is at the base of the genset, at the front (where the controls are) in the middle of the unit. I attached a proper fitting and a hose with a similar fitting on the end to close it when not in use. It works great. The dipstick is hard to reinsert all by itself...
What I find harder it the fuel filter at the bottom in the front as well. It is usually so tight I cannot remove it and its in an absolutely awful spot. Shame on Jeanneau for not moving that before they dropped in the back hatch.

I also have a SO 479 (2016) and just ran into the same problem of trying to get oil out through the dipstick tube. No go.
djpowers - with the fitting and hose combo you describe, once installed are you still using a the dipstick extractor with it? Or just simply draining the old oil into something below the genset?
Also - just curious what fittings and hose size/length combo you ended up with.
Thanks!

OK, I just used a drainzit hose with 3/8" fitting to connect to the drain plug. Worked like a charm. Cost about $20 on Amazon. The Cummins/Kubota Onan generator (MDKBJ) wasn't on their online compatibility list, so I contacted them to let them know it worked.

I made a fitting with parts from hardware store. 3/8 Threads. A double ended 3 inch threaded pipe. And a compression fitting with a nipple to fit the extractor tubing. Easy, no drip oil change. To change the filter it is easiest for me to remove the water pump first. Not a big deal and probably time to check the impeller too.
