Raymarine Axiom Pro plotter networked to Vesper XB8000 AIS (both 2018). All worked fine first 18 months use. Suddenly started giving me alarms on Axiom screen saying: “AIS Safety Message: Position not available. APPROACHING SPEED LIMIT”.
Happens any time anywhere in same places that I’ve never had problems before.
Problem goes away if I turn off AIS. Plotter continues working fine with no loss of position.
Any ideas?

Check that you haven’t stowed anything magnetic or metal near the AIS unit.

Apparently it’s not an error at my end. It’s a warning message generated by local port authority meant to be sent to individual vessels in its fleet which might be at risk of speeding. But for some reason they are being sent to me. Apparently I’m not the only boat in the area receiving these messages. An error in the shore-side system meaning multiple boats receive a warning intended for a specific MMSI. Now I wait for software engineers to resolve...
