My boat’s an NC 795 but I suspect the issue is not version-specific. The issue is that when I turn the water on in the sink, it runs muddy and brownish for a couple of seconds before clearing up. Also, the water tastes plasticky and stale. I have run the system as dry as the electrical pump will make it 3 or 4 times now and refilled, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference.
It’s easy to get at the water tank through the hatch in the pilothouse deck, and it’s got a big round thing on top that looks like it should unscrew to access the inside.
A fellow boater suggests running some bleach through the system but I’m a little dubious because I’m pretty sure the electrical pump can’t empty the tank completely so I’d have bleach residue in there.
Anyone have good ideas how to get the system clean and fresh?
