I am the owner of a so 26. All is well other than i am getting excessive water in the bilge. Predominantly during rainy periods. Wondering if its tracking the chanel from the mast foot. Anyone had similar. Paul

Deck stepped or keel stepped mast? Also need to check if water is fresh or salt. Keel stepped mast will have water coming down inside the mast. Deck stepped should be a lot better but water can still enter if electrical wires are not well sealed. Worth checking for other leaks, including from water tanks and hoses.

Hi Pricey,
Congratulations on your purchase, no longer quite so recent, and a warm, though belated welcome to the forum. I hope you are enjoying perusing the archives and finding lots of good information. The SO 26 is a lovely boat, and it’s probably an ancient memory of being shown around one that eventually lead to my buying a Jeanneau many years later. It seemed so roomy compared with my little trailerable at the time.
You mentioned that the water ingress was worse in rainy periods, so presumably rain water from the deck line or above. Apart from the mast as mentioned by Sitara, staunchion bases, windows and any other deck or cabin top penetrations for deck fittings etc have to be suspect, and it can be tricky to work out which one. Also check out any possibilities around the cockpit.
As discussed in another current thread, the first thing is to do a bit of detective work to narrow down the possibilities. Water has a bad habit of finding the lowest point without leaving much clue as to where it came from. Newspaper taped down, talc sprinkled around and tissues or cloths placed in places where they might absorb water on its way past, and hold it long enough for you to find it, will all help in different locations.
I once had an accumulation from condensation between the outside of the anchor locker and the inside of the hull. In my case it accumulated in a space forward under the bunks, but in a different boat the construction might allow it to get to the bilge.
Once you find where it comes in it will be easier to decide how to seal it.

PS - I will try and contribute to your bilge pump thread in the next day or two.

Ok, I wondered where you were. It is always interesting to know where other forum members are located.
So its back to the basic detective work.
