We sometimes have problems getting the main sail down on a SO 39i.
The sliders in the mast track seem to get stuck somehow
To solve this problem we are looking at Outer Wheel Sliders which must fit in the Selden mast track
We are looking for the correct options to fit our Selden mast. The mast engraved number is D23-C227-6419 SAS 1415 Especially OWS sliders for web we are looking for. I assume this is a C type (2003 and up to 2016) mast But does the number tell you more about the other dimensions.
Anyone experiencing the same problems?

On the 39i Selden classic mast you can fit MDS cars internally www.seldenmast.com/en/products/masts/mds_full-batten_concept.htmlwhilst designed for full batten, you can use on standard mainsails just the intermediate sail car # 511-702-02 Not cheap but perfect and basically removes almost all friction we went full batten about 5 seasons ago , total transformation.

I am contemplating this upgrade, and I am just figuring out my options. If I am reading the serial number correctly my mast is the C227 section. According to the Selden catalog the MDS45 2 wheeled cars are compatible, but the sailmaker was told it was too small. It would be nice to go with the 45s for intermediates because they are much cheaper. Has anyone else used the 2-wheel cars for intermediates?
Also, my main currently has 17 sliders , my sailmaker figures we could go down to 10, which would cut the cost quite a bit. Of course that means larger flakes on the boom, but I am guessing the stack pack makes that a non issue. How many cars did others use?

This is what Selden answered
So what does D23-C227-6419 SAS 1415 mean
Hi, C227 is the type of mast section used and as you have already seen in our catalogue, the MDS car 511-702-02 is the correct intermediate car (the cars inbetween the full battens).
For the fullbattens you need the 6-wheel version, 511-701-03 and at the top a head board assembly 511-701-04. The rest of the mast ID code is internal info telling us when the mast was built and material used.
Ok...D stands for Deck stepped, 2 stands for 2-spreaders, 3 stands for fractional rigg, C227 is the mast section. 6417 is a serial number for the specification, SAS is our French subsidiary, 1415 is the production batch.

Thanks for this. Is it directly from Selden? The local distributor is still insisting I am wrong...

I had the sailmaker convert my main to full battens, and add MDS cars to it. He had a few used cars laying around and he gave me a good price on the rest, so the conversion only cost me around $500. We went for a sail yesterday and tested the cars for the first time: what a difference! The main went up and down very smoothly! It is an upgrade I would recommend to anyone!

Glad it worked well for you too. Would not look at any other option.
