I'm a little confused about the intended function of the locking mechanism on the cheek blocks for the main winches. They are spring loaded, but the spring is weak (maybe because of age). But the spring action is opposite to what I would expect, which would be away from the line. As they are, they are very close to locking and the sheet often snags in the lock when released from the winch, very annoying. I have tried to lubricate them but it makes no difference. As a temporary fix I have attached flexible cord to the latches to keep them away from the sheet. Are they just old and worn? www.23hq.com/Johannes_s/photo/56490439/original

I used mine for locking off the genoa sheets when I had the spinnaker up to maintain tension on them.
Nice having the double one so you could leave storm job sheets rigged up.

But isn't the lock supposed to be open and out of the way when you just want to use the block and not the lock?

I never had any issues with mine locking unless I lifted them and held them while allowing the sheet to pull through a bit and jam them

We have locking cams on our harken mainsheet turning blocks, but they include no mechanical gadgetry and will engage only with manual pressure as the sheet is eased. What you describe is counterintuitive - I would strip the springs or replace them.
