On our SO35 the tank guage has recently begun to always read "full" for the aft tank even though the tank may be empty. The forward tank reads fine, problem only occurs with aft tank.
I'm not sure if the problem might lie in the guage display unit or in the tank sensor.
I'm not sure how the sensor works but it looks like the wires lead to a series of connections arranged vertically on the side of the tank.
Any advice on where to start looking for source of this problem?
Thanks, Thomas

Hello Thomas,
I had the same problem when our SO36i was delivered last year. On our model the tanks have simple conductors in the tank at different heights and the conduction through the liquid tells the guage what the height of the water is. The level can then be zero, 1/4,1/2,3/4 or full.
In our case the faulty reading was caused by the actual electronics unit at the navstation. Luckily this was all replaced under warranty. We actually had two guage problems. The forward water tank and the fuel tank did not work when the boat arrived in Australia.
They now work perfectly. ;D ;D
I hope it is not too hard to find because faulty guages are so frustrating,
Regards,
Trevor
