Sale is complete. I'm the new owner of a 2003 SO32! The boat looks great. Looks like a lot of experienced people here, so I'm planning to visit this forum frequently - will offer what I can and learn what I can.

Well, there's no escape. Not after testing SO39i(p) "Kallisto" yesterday in 6.5 knots of true wind and making better than 4 STW* with only the jib up (main is off for winter), no surfing or other fuzzing. Points way up, too! This in air temperature of 25 F with the below decks toasty warm thanks to effective central heating, my wife happy in the saloon with her laptop and work. So we're closing**. Keeping the name; we like it, it's a successful brand in the charter fleet and the spinnaker sports a beautiful rendition of the constellation. Now if we can just avoid using it too much during charter seasons we won't go broke. Kallisto on a warmer day. *I swear! 5 and a skosh SOG w/current-- look it up on AIS! ** Hopefully this is not a sign of creeping insanity; made it through middle age without a sports car but now this??

Hello, and first of all what a fantastic community and resource for Jeanneau (and infact many) boat owners.
I am in the final stages of realising a dream of owning a yacht for my family and I.
I have settled on the Jeanneau 439. My immediate options will be
1. Self tacker 2. Code 0 + Spinnaker setup (top down furling) for cruising (I'll race every boat I see... just not around the cans) 3. 4 cabin (Bunks, 3 doubles) cruising configuration (Wife and I down the aft, and 3 kids forward) 4. Kato marine style stern davits for RIB tender + outboard 5. Bowthruster (and very tempted by the great seamanship cheat of thrusters... happy wife means more sailing for me and the kids) 6. Remainder TBA depending on budget etc.
I've already clued onto a few tweaks and issues (e.g. poorly rigged spinnaker halyard for asymetricals) from this great resource, but would love to hear more.
I will be sailing mainly around the South Island of New Zealand with the boat based out of Waikawa in the Marlborough Sounds.
I know 439s have been in NZ for about 4 years and Orakei yacht sales in Auckland have been long time vendors of the Jeanneau boats. I'd appreciate any feedback from NZ Jeanneau sailors, and especially anyone with experience with the 439.
Thanks again
Josh

Welcome to the Forum......goodbye to the forum.
On y va is leaving the forum and in fact has left all other forums where I was active. Realising how much time I spent on the various forums, it is getting a bit silly. So, just like smoking, best to stop in one go.
So, to all forummers here: enjoy your Jeanneau's and have a good 2015 sailing season.

Hi,We have bought a 805(our first boat),and in discovering the workings of the boat we decided to anchor.Anchor went out all right but we were unable to use the motor to raise it. 1-do we have to change any gearing or should the portable remote just raise it without ado. What is the function of the anchor control by the steering wheel?. 2-also can anyone tell me how to use the aft portable shower. I`m sure I will have many more questions as I use the boat more. Regards

Hello to the forum. My wife and I have just purchased a 2002 Sun Odyssey 37 and look forward to cruising the Chesapeake Bay. We're both relatively new to sailing and hope someday to leave the bay for warmer waters in the Caribbean!

Hello everybody, We just bought 2003 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 52.2. Right now in Lavagna, Italy, but our plan is to sail her in Greece. We have some sailing experience, but as owners we are brand new, so all advises (even ones for dummies ) will be appreciated. Forum experience wise, veteran on AudiWorld.com, always willing to help with all things Audi. I hope that will be the case here in time.

Welcome to the forum, Mishar and I hope you have a long and happy association with your 52.2. Is the boat named "Mishar"?

Nope. Name is Geronimo. It was on the boat and my wife choose to keep it. I of course wanted her name.

Hello I'm on my second Jeanneau. The first was a 49 SO 2003 model bought new and cruised in UK, Med and Thailand. Currently spending 4-6 months a year on 42DS. Started Mallorca, then cruised east to Turkey, Turkish coast a year, then across Aegean via Poloponese. Now in Barcelona wondering where to wander to next Have had my share of "teething" troubles with Jeanneau so look forward to sharing and also learning a bit Not least of all how to clean the fuel tank !!! Greek and Turkish fuel isn't always the cleanest :-(
