As I'm kind of annoyed about the 5x-10x Volvo overcharge for fuel/oils filter I'm sharing here replacement numbers to the volvo one ( which are actually the same with Volvo stamp on it) The list is related to VP2001,2002,2003, 2003T and MD2030 and alot more Volvo engines etc. example the price for the 3 filters in eurocarparts is £15.07 inc. shipping compared to £50 + shipping and may be VAT in volvo shop.. EUR CAR PARTS: www.eurocarparts.com/fuel - HengstProduct Code:503590070 oil - Crosland Oil Filter Product Code:501735068 water separator - Crosland Fuel FilterProduct Code:503745088 Oil Filter ------------ Original Volvo 22057107 or 834337 Crosland 659 Unipart GFE 210 Main Fuel Filter--- Volvo 829913 Bosh N4051 Crossland 5003 Bosh 1457434051 Man WK 7122 Guttmann 503590071 Hengst 503590070 Water Separator Volvo 3581078 Bosh N4201 Unipart GFE 5296 Hengst E75K D42

Actually - this got me thinking. We should create a shared Google doc or similar into which we put all boat, engines, mounts etc and we all fill in the details about replacement parts.
This would be a very valuable resource - as we could quickly source parts locally when stuck somewhere without the normal chandlers nearby - and save money to boot!
Malcolm, do you have such a thing already for yachts? Vital numbers, gel coat numbers etc? Could maybe add an engine section if you do. Otherwise will create a google doc myself.

Mike Sorry Mike This one must have escaped me, maybe I was sailing for once, rather than navigating a pc or phone.... No don't have one, so if you would like to create a Google Doc that would be brilliant - it could then be a growing resource which is much better than a static webpage and I could just put links across etc Thanks Malcolm

Consider it started! This is a full EDIT link - anyone who follows this can EDIT the document. CLICK here to see the start of a wonderful resource
If you want to just VIEW it, but not edit CLICK here if you want to VIEW the document only.
I have included probably too many fields, but hey - we can always remove and add. NOTES IF a part fits more than one engine for example, please add with a comma, so VP2001, VP2002 etc. If a part has more than one replacement please add another duplicate row and change the part number (you will see what I mean) The fastest way to do this is copy paste the entire row - highlight the row number CTRL+C then new row CTRL V. Dead simple. A good example of the 2 above are lines 14-16 - all apply to multiple engines, and have 3 replacement parts. This means that later on (already planning) I can check dates on parts added etc and put a proper search function on this site for us. If you add a replacement part, please add the date of when it was last known to be good info. If you use this resource, and use one of the items, please UPDATE the date to the purchase date! If you know the part belongs to another engine, please edit it!! The resource is only as good as we make it. If someone has a LONG list of parts to add, I will be happy to try to add them for you if you cannot. Just send it over! Thanks all, Mike

Great resource to have,
Im just wondering what Oil people use in their Volvo md2030,
I know Volvo state you need VDS 2 or 3, 10w40 semi synthetic,
It seems the volvo one is alot pricier than other market leaders,
Do you tend to go with the volvo,
or get another brand? if so is there any spec you look out for?
Thanks

I use the one available with minimum first number and 40 for second number e.g. first number is oil when cold second number is oil when hot - e.g. second number is important for proper working lower first number means easy start ( in my case VERY useful as I do not have glow plugs by design of the engine)
e.g. options :
0W40 5W40 10W40 15W40
currently with 10W40 from LIDL - doing very well - £12 for 5L

I have just taken the liberty to rename Vasko's original thread as it has the excellent database that MickeyB set up, but it seems to have been overlooked in past few months, so just trying to get more involved.
Thanks Malcolm
