We are the owners of a new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i. We (I) have found that the configuration of the storage facility for cups and glasses is not really workable. It has a series of different sized holes which limit the number and size of glasses/cups you can store and there is a huge amount of wasted space above and below the glasses which cannot be used. As a person who likes everything to have it's place, I have found this to be a source of frustration and wasted time trying to solve the problem. Has anybody found a better solution or modification for this cupboard?

Hi Wendy
Guess we may have a very similar arrangement on our SO39i, there is no dedicated storage for glasses, although the moveable pins for the plate racks work well.
The locker with the different sized holes and lots of space above I suspect is intended for wine bottles and the larger holes take bottles of Fizz
We fit in glasses around the plate cupboard and in the wine locker with some tea-towels to stop rattling

OMG! It's so obvious now you mention it and I absolutely didn't pick up on it even though before purchasing our Jeanneau 36i we looked at many many boats that had storage for bottles. I can finally give my head a rest, make myself feel good by filling those holes with the bottles that are stored in the locker, and look for alternatives for glass storage. You are right about the pins for the plates. I have everything that I want stored, fitting like an absolute glove and working beautifully!!! Gotta love that!!

Hi Wendy
We are still trying to find a good solution for the glasses, on our previous boat a SO34.2 there were dedicated glass AND bottle storage ;D

Wendy,
We store all of our water bottles under the floorboards in the main saloon, but I am sure you found that space as well.

Thanks Guys for your input! Yes I found the storage under the floor in the main saloon and oddly enough I have filled it with potato chips and nuts and stuff in packets that are a bit bulky for the cupboard. We have a store here in Australia called "Howards Storage World". They have a bracket which you fix to the top of the cupboard which holds wine glasses hanging upside down by their base. Probably not enough height if you are storing bottles there?? www.hsw.com.au/ Flip over 10 pages and it is on the bottom right hand side. It's not a good picture and it's a little hard to see, but you get the idea. We had a similar timber system on our old Mariner 34 (stink boat) which worked quite well but you were not up against the movement issues you are in a sail boat. My only other stoke of genius was to fix a narrow shelf (or several) to the back of the cupboard with a front piece on it to contain the glasses. It may also need either the peg system or individual compartments for each glass to secure them adequately. My problem here is that I am loath to tack on or modify the original timberwork of the boat! Then again I may just be overtraining on the subject and should just throw them into a bucket!!! I'm sure it will all fall into place eventually as has everything else. We are loving our "Stella Blue" to pieces and can't wait till the weather is a bit kinder and we can enjoy some more quality time on her as we fear she is getting a bit lonely down there all by herself!!!
