Never heard of it! Weather forecasts in the Ionian are predictably unreliable! On some days you can be sailing in F7 and 400m away there will be a boat that is all but becalmed. If you learned to sail in a mountainous area with wind shadows and acceleration zones then nothing will be new to you and you'll know how to read the topography and waves. We also have that good old gotcha... Wind Bombs... A blast of air that will rush down a hillside and hit you just as you are getting fed up with going nowhere with the sails flapping. In 14 years it has only happened to me once and I hope it will never happen to me again. If you find the title of the book you are looking for I would be interested to known it, but I will remain a little sceptical that anyone has charted the weather so accurately in these waters.

Some info about the book:
Yes there is Vasko - It has been done by an ex Greek Admiral and there are four in total. I have two and they are incredible.
They give a serious amount of information on places (as do most pilot books do), but there is a lot of additional info on sea states, currents and weather warning signs from cloud formations etc..
They are also usable for navigation on charts shown in the pilot books!
They cost around €85 each, but well worth having! Most Greek chandler's should stock them.
The books are written in Greek and English within the same book!
I am not on my yacht until the 19th September. Once I get back I will let you know the details.

Ahh Yes, I know of the ones, they have been around for some time. If I remember correctly they are also on the rather large size as well as being very expensive.
Had no idea they offered an interpretation on weather! Thanks for the insight.
The one rule-of-thumb in the Ionian is that when the wind is forecast from the south expect unsettled conditions and more likely than not Red Rain!

Vasko,
Are your new pilot guides circa 2014 or are there newer editions out. I seem to remember these guides are only re-issued very infrequently.
Cheaper and more frequent might win a few more customers. I have never met anyone that uses them.

I do not have them myself just a friend told me about them (after I told him about the waterspout that I encounter) . Currently I use electronic copy of Ron Heikell - latest edition, but researching for the Greek ones...
btw: are you still in tbe Ionian?

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you said you had two of them.
I have never seen them for sale in the chandlers. My understanding is that they only do a print every five years and expect you to revise your editions manually from info on their web site. The latest version may be as old as 2014 and although things happen slowly here a four year old pilot guide might be a long way out of date even in Greece.
Good luck with your search.
Not on the boat at the moment.
