I thinking of having a Rub Rail added to my ( 2007 ) S.O. 45. Are there some experiences that would help me?

My 2004 SO 35 has a factory rub rail. It's an anodized aluminum extrusion with a teak strip set into it. The teak is the dumbest thing I could imagine, as it's very small and requires maintenance. Try to avoid anything like that.

Far Niente (all tho an older model) had an aluminum extrusion rub rail that I didn't care for. I found a US company ( Teka) that makes many, many different shapes and sizes of a hard plastic material that is designed for rub rails. I found one that perfectly fits the "slot" in the factory rail and is grooved to accept a stainless steel insert.
Diana & I installed it in two (hard) days labor. It was a great improvement. I'll try to post ia picture of it on my blog in a few days.
