Can anyone tell me how to convert the main cabin seating area to a double berth in the SO 37. I recently traded up from a Beneteau 321 Oceanis Clipper. I've moved the cushions around, removed the table legs but still can't figure it out, Doh!! I am going to take some stick for this but hey, we're all boat owners together right? I have the owners 2 cabin version but suspect this is irrelevant.
Sailing and servicing her No problema pero housework, yuk!!!

Hi Jeff
I have a Sun Fast 35, which looks to be similar to the SO37 interior. First, remove the two legs from the bottom of the table and stow away. Second, locate two wooden cross members that you insert between the forward and rearward facing portions of the U-Shaped Settee. On my boat, one of the cross members has a two "U" shaped cut outs that allow for the "U" shape of the female post collars on the underside of the table. If memory serves me this cross member is inserted first nearest the starboard settee. The table should sit nicely on top of the cross members. In terms of cushions, there should be one or two extra cushions that you use with the jigsaw puzzle. On my boat, one is specifically cut to fit next to my mast (Keel stepped). This may be different on your boat. If you don't have extra cushions, ask the previous owner where they may be?
Hope this helps.
Jeff

Thanks Jeff,
Your advice makes a lot of sense. At least now I know what I am looking for. The handbook gives absolutely no information on the conversion and is as useful as a one legged man at a butt kicking competition!!
Regards
Jeff

What is funny about this post/thread. Spouse and I were looking at a SF37 over the weekend, found about a 1" thick by 4" wide by 3-4' long board in a closet, with two half round cuts, along with another squarish cut out of it. Where does this go? as all the sales reps were a few blocks away at the seattle boat show, left the two of us in a quandry.............Now I know what that board was for! When the table is lowered.
never know what one will find out on a forum like this............
Jeff, did you get down here last weekend?

Hi Marty Yes, we did make it down with two other couples. We did Quest Field on Saturday, and lucked out on the floating boat show on Sunday, beautiful day. Main purpose of the visit was to look for a boat for my buddy who was all set to go on the 36i performance. We had a really great look around, did some drooling and dreaming, but at the end of the day, we didn't find a single boat (In a reasonable price range) that I would trade my SF35 for.
It was our first time to the show, and I was amazed at the boats on display, but a little disappointed by the rest of the vendors. In terms of pricing, other than the odd electronics deal, I didn't see anything that was a better value in US$ than Cdn$.
Looks like this years purchase will be seat cushions for the cockpit. I have just about finished my design for the cockpit table that should work nicely in spite of the traveler, so now our buts will need to be comfy! Vancouver Boat Show starts tomorrow, so another excuse to go walk about.
I have booked off for the Jeanneau rendezvous this June and hopefully we will make it.
We had some great wind this weekend for our Snowflake race out of West Van Yacht Club +35kts at the start settling down to 20 or so. Great surfing on a 1D35

Jeff,
If your friend likes your SF35, there is a used DKeel SO35 moored in Lk Washington the whole time as I understand, listed by Seattle Jeanneau dealer. But if your friend goes for an I series, a performance will be wanted I feel.
When you get the table done, send me a pic, along with Malcolm for us to see. AND, If you sell or trade in your sf35, I want first crack at it! Unless I get the SF37 I was looking at last weekend. Not sure if it will work, but am going to try!

Hi! We have the same main cabin berth arrangement in our SF35 but I must admit we have only used it once. There are a plenty of room without using the main cabin in the SF35 3 cabin version. Jeff, I´m also curious about your new cockpit table. We use a Swedish design from www.lagun.nu/eng/index.htm but it's a bit unstable. In all we are very pleased with our boat after 2 seasons. Cheers Mike

Wow, I didn't really think that a cockpit table would generate allot of interest! Please don't be expecting too much, but it will be stable and deal with the main sheet. I started with an old mahogany louvered door and have been adjusting from there.
Now I have to finish the project to post the picture if nothing else!
My Sunfast35 is the two cabin version, and we do use the extra berth a fair amount with friends and guests. I know that the ideal boat is six for drinks, four for dinner and sleeps two, but we always seem to be the party boat. Unfortunately Jeanneau did not import very many into Canada or the US, and once folks had a look and then a sail on ours, it is quite popular, and none to be had on the west coast. The local Benneteau and Bavaria dealers seem to be better marketers for what ever reason.
Kind regards
Jeff
