One thing I was told and found to be a useful tip was to keep the main anchor breaker turned off until needed. This helps to avoid accidental and kid proofing anchor deployment. I’m not sure where that is located on the 855 or 895, but on my 795 it is located by the battery isolator switches. My granson likes to sit at the helm and all those switches are like a magnet to his hands!

Dogbreath Unfortunately this is due to it being a free forum, but the work around works well once you try it a couple of times jeanneau.proboards.com/thread/8029/revised-guidance-photo-uploads-forumI inserted the image above, simply by viewing your link image, right clicking and copying into the insert image tag - took 3 secs max Please do persevere, by the way really great solution, very neat indeed.

We are antecipating our 2017 895 to arrive in a few days and wanted to check if any of you have any type of dinghy David. We plan on having an inflatable dinghy stored inside but are struggling to find Davis for the single swim plataform that can hold an outboard so we save our backs. Any suggestions?

This is a really helpful forum, would people be able to post a photo of their upgrades, especially around anything unique, power outlets and navigation, how the console space has been used?
I'm also going to the Annapolis boat show again today and if anyone has any questions for the 895, let me know. There is a high level representative of Jeanneau onsite.

Congratulations on your purchase. We have sure enjoyed ours. In regards to carrying a raft, I am still looking for a better way. I keep a 9 foot inflatable raft under the cockpit. The raft is in the original bag. I purchased a separate bag for the accessories (inflatable floor, pump, seats, oars, etc.). Despite this, the bag with the raft is still very difficult to get out. I thinking maybe an 8 foot raft would have been better (i.e., lighter), but they seem so small. The cockpit’s hatch opens towards the outboards, meaning the opening is towards the cabin. The hatch opens to less than 90 degrees. I am not sure how a davit system would work in that situation. Whenever I plan on using the raft, I haul a 2.5 outboard in the open cockpit. I have removed the port and forward benches from the cockpit to make more room. Keep me informed on how you end up carrying a raft. Dogbreath

Hi, we're also future owners of NC 895. We just put deposit with Sundance Yachts for a boat coming in May.
Many of the options, factory and dealer-installed we negotiated after reading your posts! We opted for dual F200's even though we were close to go for single 350. What we couldn't decide on are electronics. We considered factory installed Lowrance, Garmin, Raymarine, but couldn't come up with configuration that we would happy with. We wanted the full set, including plotter, fish finder, radar and auto pilot. I can see that there is preference for Garmin on this list. Is there any specific reason for that? I was also told that the maximum unit size that can be installed is 11", but I saw on this forum that people were able to install 12". Who did you use for installations?
We still didn't finalize that option and we're leaning to ordering it without electronics and installing it after, but I'm concerned about costs that might be much higher for aftermarket install than it would be for factory installation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Conics,
Our 895 through Sundance is arriving in April so looks like you got the slot after us. Congrats. They are all good electronics. I was leaning toward Garmin but when I saw the new Raymarine Axiom GPS/Chartplotter it looked to me like they took the lead. Or perhaps its just personal preference but we are going with Raymarine. A better price for the package too in particular with rebate now available. Sundance is having the factory move the Yamaha engine gage slightly to the right on our boat so there is room for a 12" screen. I've pretty much settled on a certified installer located near me in Tacoma. We live on Vashon Island. I was pleasantly surprised when their price for the main electronice (GPS/chartplotter, radar, transducers, radio) was less than on-line prices. Will also be adding a horn and TV, but no autopilot at least not now.

Hi Conics, welcome and congrats on your 895 purchase. It’s a fantastic boat. I met Lynn and his wife out on the water when they had their 695 and have become good friends. He even came over and helped when I installed the trim tabs on my 795 last winter. Lynn and I traded bunch of configuration options for his 895 and he ended up with a nice package, although I’m with you I would go with the twin 200’s even though Lynn’s was a more practical decision. As for after market installation prices, I know I didn’t find any discounts from Sundance factory or after factory installed components, they were pretty expensive with questionable quality, although Greg has done a better job cleaning up that side of business from a couple years ago. There are also other 895 owners who have had electronics installed by local shops at reasonable prices and great quality. As for preference for Garmin, it sounds like it has changed as they use to push Lowrance, but I’d recommend what lynn is doing by not having electronics installed and having them shift the engine gage at the factory and get a local install. I went with Lowrance since its well known as a fishing chart plotter, but I use the Navionics charts and sync with my iPad for a second display (sonar on chart plotter and navigation on iPad). Sure I could do split display but you will find it gets crowded on one display and I like the add features on the Navionics iPad app. One thing to keep in mind with the radar and chart plotter is you need to make sure it comes with radar/chart plotter overlay. I found out the hard way the Lowrance requires a separate rate compass to support overlay mode, so be sure to check on that. It’s part of Garmins package but I don’t know about others Lynn mentioned. Cheers, Ron

Hi Captain Ron
I’ve been wanting to ask you about what you did for your radar install. Seems to me that the radar should be at least a foot above the roof. The flat mounting area where the factory Nav light installs looks like it’s a bit small for most of the after market radar mounts such as a sea scan. And if not using that area then what works best? Could you share a pic or two of yours?
Thanks Captain Lynn

I'm in Olympia. I just took Sundance's May 2018 build slot for the NC 895. What your experiences? Am I likely to get it on schedule. Do you like your NC 895? Electronic Pack is Lowrance HDS 9 Carbon from Factory--thinking of adding Radar. I'm open to opinions. Radio Fusion RA70N. I'm open to opinions. Lowrance VHR Link-8. I'm open to opinion.

Hi Everyone!
Been following this board for a few months now and enjoy the many comments!! Expecting to take delivery of our new 895 Offshore Legend in early April and we’re super pumped! Just couldn’t justify an extra $150,000 for another 330 Grady;( vs the Jeanneau. The 895 hits the mark for us on all points! Once the generator and all electronics are installed we’re heading to the Chesapeake for a week or two. Just a few questions for you all that I can’t determine from my dealer or any online info; does the toilet use onboard fresh water or does it draw from the outside? We’re adding a macerator and overboard discharge too, any opinions on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance and happy and safe boating!

Hi Lynn, I have a 6 inch base for my radar which seems to work pretty good. I’ll send you over some pictures.
Hey Olyboater, congrats on your purchase of the NC 895. Great choice! For your radar if you go with the Lowrance package, be sure to add either a rate compass like the Simrad RC42 or Precision 9, or a Lowrance Point-1 in order to get radar/chart overlay and better position accuracy. If you are or will be considering adding auto pilot I would go with the Precision-9. Retail it runs about $700 and you will want to add a NMEA 2000 backbone network.
Hey delawhere, congrats on your 895 as well. I added electric toilet and macerator to my 795 and glad I did. It does pull seawater so if you want to use freshwater you will need to get it rigged that way. It also comes with an overboard discharge but for us in the Puget Sound we are pretty much a no dump zone so we use the pump out stations.
For all, I would be sure the dealer adds an additional fuse power block for your additional electronics. Don’t let them just put in a power block and in-line fuses. It makes it a bear to track down blown fuses. 😉
Waiting is the toughest part once you got it all spec’d out. Just be sure to stay on top of your dealer and don’t assume anything.
Captain Ron

Thanks Captain Ron!! Appreciate it. You answered the elusive $64k question on the seawater vs. fresh draw so thank you!! Agreed on the separate fuse block for aftermarket electronics. My guy is doing a home run to the house batt with its own fuse block. Picked the Garmin 7612 xsv with 18’ Fantom Dome, Md-625 Flir HD and Garmin communications. Also bought the Revere Coastal Compact 2 life raft just in case...Not sold on an auto-pilot yet but may add it once my arms get tired! Thank you again for the reply and have a nice day!

No problem. You still may want to follow-up with the dealer or other 895 owners if it’s rigged for sea water or fresh water. I purchased my 795 2 years ago and it could be the 895 might use fresh water.
Lynn, do you know?

I believe the 895 uses salt water same as the rest of the boats in this family. I sure hope so. I wouldn’t want to waste crest water on this. Nothing wrong with using salt water.

Changing the topic slightly... if anyone knows where to find an electronic copy of an 895 manual for the 2018 895 here in the USA please let me know. I’ve asked our seller but nothing yet. It would be nice to get a copy before our boat arrives in April.

Hello. I have recently ordered a NC 895 (February 2017). I am looking for fellow owners with similar boats to share experiences and to seek advice. What can I expect. After marketing d Eshasuggestions would also be appreciated. The boat I ordered is the offshore version with the twin F200s. The boat will be used primarily for cursing in Puget Sound with limited fishing. Thanks Since the NC 895 does not come with a horn. I am looking to add an aftermarket horn. Any suggestions?

I am also horn shopping. I bought a cheap one and sent it back as the cover was not properly attached. I’m currently looking at going with a Ongaro delux SS shorty dual trumpet horn. On amazon for around 150. Or at Anchor Express for $126. Pricy but looks like good quality. I like the mounting bracket in particular Lynn

We have an NC895 Offshore booked for a July delivery! We are looking at some aftermarket options and would love any feedback you might have for us. It's great to be able to see how everyone has customized their boats on this forum. I'm particularly interested in installing a Wallas Safeflame 88 DU diesel stovetop as jeanneau has removed the option of a propane stovetop. The dimensions of the diesel stove top are 17.5" by 12". I'm thinking this stove could share a tank with the factory diesel heater if the tank is big enough. How often are you refueling your diesel heaters in the winter?

Congrats on your purchase!! You’re gonna love the 895. A couple comments to your post: anything diesel comes with a smell. If you don’t mind then by all means go for it. But an option would be to put in a Westerbeke 3.5kw genset and the factory installed heat pump which provide both heat and a/c. The generator would then run your stovetop as well as other big draw items anytime. Just my $.02. As for electronics, you may want to consider adding a Flir camera. They’ve really come down in price and are so worth the peace of mind when underway at night. My 895 has the propane stove but I’d actually prefer the electric. Also, if you add the genset or any indoor propane appliance then make sure you add a CO2 detector in addition to a smoke alarm. The 895’s made abroad do not come with either. Safe boating and ttyl!
