We have an NC895 Offshore booked for a July delivery! We are looking at some aftermarket options and would love any feedback you might have for us. It's great to be able to see how everyone has customized their boats on this forum. I'm particularly interested in installing a Wallas Safeflame 88 DU diesel stovetop as jeanneau has removed the option of a propane stovetop. The dimensions of the diesel stove top are 17.5" by 12". I'm thinking this stove could share a tank with the factory diesel heater if the tank is big enough. How often are you refueling your diesel heaters in the winter? Hey urbanerosion! Congrats on your purchase!! You’re gonna love the 895. A couple comments to your post: anything diesel comes with a smell. If you don’t mind then by all means go for it. But an option would be to put in a Westerbeke 3.5kw genset and the factory installed heat pump which provide both heat and a/c. The generator would then run your stovetop as well as other big draw items anytime. Just my $.02. As for electronics, you may want to consider adding a Flir camera. They’ve really come down in price and are so worth the peace of mind when underway at night. My 895 has the propane stove but I’d actually prefer the electric. Also, if you add the genset or any indoor propane appliance then make sure you add a CO2 detector in addition to a smoke alarm. The 895’s made abroad do not come with either. Safe boating and ttyl! Thanks for the reply delawhere! We definitely looked into the genset. I think we are just going to grab a honda2000 for emergencies (excessive safety precautions would be take while in use). I don't think the genset heating would be feasible for off-season cruising here in the Pacific Northwest. My gf requires excessive amounts of heat to survive. Running the genset day and night might get expensive and possibly irritating. I hadn't even considered the flir camera, I will definitely look into that! Thanks for the tips!

We are getting ready to place an order for an 895 and would love any advice folks on this thread can offer as we finalize our order and configuration for a likely July delivery. We live in Maine, which has great boating but a short season and weather challenges at times. We are trading a 29-foot Grady White that is a great boat but is built more for fishing; we don’t fish and use the boat to go cruising (occasional overnights) and exploring (Maine has hundreds of offshore islands, many uninhabited) and travel a to a family home on an island off the the coast. We are going with twin F200s . - Love the design and layout of the 895; not sure she will be as durable and handle rough seas as well as the Grady. Any feedback on how well seaworthy these boats are and how well they wear?
- Electronics: Any recommendations on electronics? We have to get radar due to thick fog that we can get around here. The one thing I don’t like about the 895 is the limited space to install more than one screen and to have larger displays. Has anyone found a way to add a second screen, such as using an iPad with Navionics that is somehow mounted near the helm area? We would mount the radio up high and asked if the Yamaha controls could go up there too but the dealer said moving the Yamaha control would not be a good idea. Suppose he is right but it seems like such a bad use of limited helm space.
- Generator and A/C: Even though A/C is hardly a necessity here, we are planning to get it for resale value. Local friends say being able to de-humidify the cabin is a good idea, but I think they might be too fussy. Was planning to forego the generator due to cost, but then reconsidered for safety reasons plus the fact that we will keep the boat on a mooring near where we live and not at a marina, so shore power isn’t an option. Expensive, but are those good choices?
- Raw water washdown doesn’t seem to be an option on these boats so the dealer is investigating an after-market option. Really helps to clean up after a day out on the water—again, the boat will be on a mooring and there is no water or power at the town dock. We live on a fresh water river connected to the ocean, so we like to hose down after being out for a day and then do a proper freshwater washdown when we refuel. Not ideal, but we do have dogs so raw water washdown is useful.
- Where does everyone store their fenders? Drives me nuts to not have fenders stored when underway.
- We have a small inflatable that we use to go island hopping around here. I have an electric pump and was thinking we could store in the hatch below the cockpit. Anyone do that? Worry about about moisture over the generator and batteries. Dealer says we could tie down the inflatable up front or on the roof, at least until it dries. We have a separate dinghy we leave behind.
- Am thinking of installing a camera I can access via cell phone to check on boat when I am away. Crime is not at all an issue around here; more for peace of mind when there is weather. Anyone do this?
- I have read here that some of you have installed a windlass switch at the helm. Great idea. Was this done at the factory?
- We are checking to see if teak decking is offered. Might no longer be an option.
- We are thinking of going with the blue hull. Worry about scratches showing more.
Sorry for so many questions! We are really excited and are planning to finalize the order this coming week, so any feedback anyone can offer would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

Hey dsmaine! Great choice on the 895. We’re getting our 895 offshore legend next week and we’re steeping up from our Grady 330 express although some might contend we’re downgrading;). Anywho, here’s my $.02 on the topics I can assist with. First, the genset is a must for resale and usability. You’ll be surprised how much you’ll use it. Second, the AC unit is actually a heat pump with reversing valve so it heats and cools. It’s a Dometic brand and they’re bullet proof. All worth the money. Lastly, if I’m not mistaken, the windlass switch comes factory installed at the helm including a remote switch at the bow so I think you’re covered in that regard but ask your dealer. As for electronics, potato, patato but I highly recommend adding a Flir camera. Saved my bacon on the 330 many a night! Good luck with the 895!! Ps- for the genders NAWA makes a great fender basket. Problem solved! Take care.

Urbanerosion,
We have an 895 coming toward the end of this month! We're near Seattle. Its coming with a single Yamaha F300 - I wish I could get some more user data on it but I'm confident on this selection as the right one for me. And I'm confident the prop should be a 15 3/4 dia x 15 pitch. We shall soon see how she performs :') I'm surprised you say that the propane stove is no longer an option. It was when I was finalizing options a few months ago. I decided on the ceramic electric cooktop. Reasons are safety (no open flame or gas explosions), less weight (no tank), never run out of fuel (as long as you are plugged in), and no moisture buildup inside the salon windows (propane when burning releases moisture), and a nice flat work area when the stove is not on. I'll likely get a small portable lightweight gas single burner stove like I used on my 695 for when we want to heat something when not plugged in. Dsmaine,
I've decided to go with all Raymarine as I think their new Axiom chartplotter/GPS and soon to be released Quantum 2 radar has taken the lead. If the Yamaha gage is mounted in the upper right corner of the large available flat space at the helm there is room for a 12" chartplotter/GPS. Sundance yachts has coordinated the factory in Cadillac to do this when installing the engine gage. The 12" chartplotter/GPS will then be installed here in Blaine by Sundance. I will likely mount the radio above the helm position door (starboard side of the salon). I have a small inflatable I used with my 695 and will be storing it in the cockpit storage just like on my 695 and on the roof if inflated. I decided against teak. It was an option. It can't be kept looking nice unless refinished yearly. And if you let it weather naturally with no finish that should be great except just about everything will stain it. So no teak for us (except on the swim platform).
And I believe someone asked about a blue hull. We had that on our 695. It scratches easily even if just barely touching the dock, and shows them. Most scratches can be buffed out but lots of work. It generates a lot of heat inside the boat as it absorbs the suns rays. And I expect once the boat is older it will start to fade and not look so good like most other old boats with dark hulls. So although even beautiful, our 895 is coming with a white hull.
Did I miss anything?

Hi, Capt Lynn. Great information! Many thanks. I love the look of the blue hull but you have convinced me about the practicality of going with white. Our local dealer was told by the factory this week that teak decking is no longer a factory-installed option. Propane stoves still are available as an option, we were told. Thanks again!

Hello dsmaine,
I am also located in Maine in Yarmouth. I have a 2017 855 offshore version with white hull, made many customizations and will be posting soon. I had installed garmin radar, remote spotlight, garmin 7610 chartplotter, microwave, outlets, converted dinette for 4 way conversion , Led underwater lights. You will love the pilot house on your 895 in Maine. I would love to hook up when you get it. My boat is being launched on May 5

Hi, Steve/drz. Good to meet you! Would love to connect. We live in Bowdoinham and use our boat to go from here to Vinalhaven a lot. How does your 855 handle things when the water gets rough? The trip around Pemaquid and across Muscongus Bay can be uncomfortable when there is a good breeze, and I am wondering how the 895 will do relative to our Grady. We probably won’t get the 895 until late July. Would love to see the customizations you have done.

Looking to purchase a 895 Offshore and was wondering if the bulkheads are fiberglass encapsulated. I looked at an 855 and it had plywood bulkheads with water already wicking up into at least one. I love the layout and the CE B rating but am concered about longevity as I tend to keep boats a loooong time. My current boat I bought new 22 years ago. Any responses would be appreciated. I asked this question directly to Jeaneau but have yet to receive a response.

I’ve had mine for two weeks now and it’s built like a brick s*#thouse. I believe the bulkheads are indeed fiberglass and the only wood I’ve seen used is in the hull area as vertical pieces used for mounting pumps and such. I’ve been through every square inch of the boat and it appears to be all fiberglass. Incidentally, when my electronics guy drilled the transducer hole in the hull, he was absolutely shocked at how thick the hole cutout was!!! He showed it to at least 6 coworkers and couldn’t believe how thick it was. Made the statement that my Grady 330 didn’t even come close to that thickness. If you’re interested in any further commentary let me know but as for your original question, I believe all bulkheads are indeed fiberglass. Take care!

Thank you delewhere that puts my mind to rest. Now to find one in the NY area. There was one in NH but the dealer was reluctant to sell it to me stating that the selling dealer was responsible for warranty issues and that he was too far away. Looks like I will have to order one at the NY Show from the CT dealer. Thanks again.

Hi Gambino
I had a 695 which I sold this last winter. The bulkheads were not fully enclosed, but they were protected/enclosed/sealed lower down in the hull so if you did spill some water down there I wouldn't expect it to be a concern. That said, my 695 was a 100% completely dry hull so moisture not a concern. And very well built from what I could tell. I believe the 895s use the same construction. And I expect them to be have completely dry hulls too. I have one coming, scheduled to leave Cadillac Michigan May 15th :')

Taking delivery next week. Where have you guys been putting Name and Port on the boat? Due to all the thru-hulls on starboard, had the NC lettering and the whale hook decals removed on both sides and had name placed on rear sides. Looks good and fit well. Didn’t place hailing port on boat.

My new NC 895 Offshore should be ready for pickup in about a week. Very excited. It will be our family's first boat which is a bit daunting and overwhelming.
Two questions.
1. Is there any sort of consensus about the best tender solution? 2. Has anyone created a list of everything that we need to buy before taking delivery? Our delivery will be on the water so quite a few of the safety items are covered.
I am a taker of information now and hope to be a giver of information later when we better understand what we are doing.
