I guess it is how you read it Hoppy - as I read it if you are a non flagged Turkish boat, like us, you can only be in Turkey for 90-120 days if this goes through.

There are foreign flagged boats in Turkey owned by Turkish citizens. This has two reasons:
1. We are not allowed to import (fly Tr flag) if we buy a second hand foreign flag boat (my case). It is to protect national shipbuilding industry. You can fly Tr flag only if you buy a brand new boat and pay 27% tax. 2. As long as you have an "internet" company in Delaware, you register the new boats (or the a/m second hand boats) on this company and you can avoid 27% tax. Then you get a transit log and renew it every year. And exit Turkey after 5 years (even one day exit and return back is ok).
Due to these reasons, there are around 9000 boats mainly registered in Delaware and owned by Tr citizens.
Last month, the parlament changed the law. Now the boats owned before the issue date of this law (jan 27th), can be imported to Tr and fly Turkish flags. Another change was on tax for new boats, it was reduced to 1% from 27%. With this new law, In order to "convince" boat owners for national flag, there will be some restrictions for foreign flags like limited duration of stay in Tr. But this is (as said above) only for Turkish citiziens.
Tourism income has dramatically decreased here last year, so I don't think that there will be any restrictions for foreigners neither today nor in the future.
