Hi,
In my sunrise 35 aft cabin the head lining is made of a soft backed material which has now started to come away from the GRP. I wondered if anyone had heard of a different system for replacing head lining as this current method is expensive to replace and can come un done again if damp etc... any help would be great
thanks

On the SO 34 the headlining is stapled onto a shaped backing board which is held in place by industrial strength Velcro pads.

I've been in the process of replacing my headliner, and hull liner on my 84 Arcadia over the summer.
The head liner itself, at least for me is stapled to a thin sheet of plywood that is screwed to the cabin top. About an hr per board to do once out of the boat. I used spray style contact glue to the plywood, then sprayed the liner, installed and stapled from the back with 1/4" staples. Reinstalled
The hull part was another story. I had a foam backed vinyl glued to the hull. I did a combo of wood lath strips that I glued to the hull, glued some foam to the hull between the lath, another layer of foam over the foam and lath, then glued the vinyl to the foam, and stapled the vinyl to the lath hiding the staple with a product called "hidem" A upholtry stapler helps to make the job go easier, the problem is most are air powered, not electric or manual.
I have pics, and need to take the time to articlize my fun for malcolm and this site. If you have any other questions and need pics, send an email or pm me.
