This is the response from the Jeanneau factory. Thanks Nick from Sundance on helping chase this down. From the Jeanneau rep: "We wanted to follow-up on your inquiry with Sundance regarding the side bars on the NC795 and confirm these bars are onboard all NC795 from all our factory. These are not based on a safety or structural issue, but in fact to better assist upon replacing a potential broken window. From Jeanneau factory designer (translated from French) "Improvement related to quality, to facilitate the change of windows in case of breakage. No particular worries about the hundreds of boats delivered without." Since I've not actually seen a new 795 I can't tell from the picture how it facilitates changing the window, but that's why it's there. Ron Thanks a lot for helping digging this information out so fast 😁 Great to have some sort of clarification. Maybe the feedback is correct. However I read this also so that maybe side bars also prevent windows to brake at the first place. On the other hand I have never heard any MF where window would have been broken. Also I am not going to install such bars whatsoever. Thanks for your help, Kind Regards

After thinking about this a bit, I assume they determined or found under certain conditions this is an issue and decided to address it during manufacturing, which is a good thing! I can't say I like the strut, and whether or not it will affect us who already have 795's I'm not too concerned as I'm confident Jeanneau would take care of it.
My 2 cents worth!

Hello all, I’m interested in a new NC 795. I’ll be boating in the Great South Bay of Long Island. I’m concerned about how this hull handles choppy conditions. Where i am the bay can get pretty choppy when the wind conditions are over 10 knots. I’m relatively new to boating and my first boat was a poor choice for the conditions i typically find. The boat is very light and pounds in the chop unless i really power it down making it a poor choice for a family. I ha e 3 children 12,10,10. We do day trips to Fire Island, light fishing and some tubing near the Connetquot River. Does anyone here feel this hull design is a good fit for the location and activities We like to do? Any information from people in this area or who also deal with choppy water conditions please let me know. Thank you in advance. While I'm not in your area, I do boat in the Pacific Northwest Puget Sound where it can change from calm to choppy very fast from wind and current, so I do understand your concern. When I purchased my 795 I also noticed it did not have the deep V-cut hull as other boats and like the one I also sea trialed (24' 300hp outboard Cutwater). What I found was the 795 hull did quite well in comparison to the deep V hull and over all it was more stable, which I believe has to do with the wider beam (9.2 versus 8.6). I also added trim tabs that seems to help stabilized in choppy water as well as levels the boat with passengers on the port side. Unless I'm into the waves and wind, I can usually keep up a pretty good pace without beating up the boat and passengers. There are times a more aggressive and heavier hull would be nice, but what I've found is the 795 has provided a good overall performance, stability, and experience for us.
Hope this helps.

I have been following with interest the posts regarding the new window staunchion on the latest MF795. I returned to my 795 in early January to find the starboard window shattered as below. I had used the boat the previous day without anything unusual occurring. There was no sign of attempted break-in or other obvious impact from bird etc. The shattering appeared to radiate from the through-bolt on the upper sliding frame which acts as a stopper for window opening. The weather had been particularly hot at 42 deg celcius that day but nothing the boat hadn't experienced before. In the end neither myself, the shipwright nor the glazier are clear as to what happened to the window. The glazier felt there may not have been enough space around the through-bolt to allow for expansion in the heat. However the boat has been in similar hot environments plenty of times over the last 3 years. After a few delays with insurance etc the window was finally replaced just last week and the result is good. I don't see how the new staunchion could help with the window replacement but it would provide roof support when the glass is out. I suspect it may be designed to give extra support with the increasing tendency to carry loads such as paddleboards, dinghies etc on roof racks. Despite all this still a big fan of the 795, its been a great boat. www.23hq.com/Pmcc/photo/52428595/original

Hey mate, sorry to hear and see that happen as I can only imagine what a shocker that was, but glad it’s all taken care of. I’m with you, I’m not sure how the new strut makes a difference, but apparently Jeanneau has run into this a few times before given their explanation. How many hours do you have on her now?

Thanks Ron. 620 hrs on her now enjoyed every one of them. Unfortunately the new window leaks quite badly so more work to come still. I had bad leak from other window (port) when boat was delivered, others have reported the same, so maybe Jeanneau needs to look at this. It is certainly a large glass area for the size boat and contributes to the great visibility. Anyway got the window guys back on the job so hopefully they can make it waterproof this time... always a plus!

Mate, sorry to hear about the window drama, that would have been horrible to discover - I hope that isn't a problem I run into! We're loving the MF795 here in Perth - loads of trips over to Rottnest Island. We're just getting into true WA Autumn weather now, with lighter winds, so hoping to get a bunch of boating in before winter. I ended up installing zipwake interceptors instead of traditional trim tabs, and I'm stoked with the result - gets on the plane way faster now, which then translates to higher top speeds. One thing I am getting installed is battery volt meters - I can't understand how this isn't a standard feature on a boat that is designed to be a weekender...? I've had one bad experience at Rotto where after 3 days on a mooring I've unknowingly drained the house battery - had to get back to marina without chart or window wipers in a stiff chop - not fun. Since then I've taken to just running my motor for 30mins each morning to charge - haven't had a issue since, but will have better peace of mind with voltmeters. Only other thing I'm mulling over is Seadek or carpet flooring - the standard white non-slip gelcoat deck gets filthy pretty quick... just have to convince the CFO that it's a worthy purchase!
Hope you get the window sorted soon. Cheers Dave

Dave, I just installed the Victron 712 battery monitor on my 795, and so far I’m pretty pleased. I am monitoring my house bank of 4 batteries and one Starter battery. I agree with you, it’s a must have to manage your battery reserves. The phone app is pretty good, although I wish I could access historical information without having to be connect to the monitor. I also installed a couple USB outlets which is really nice to have. Nice to hear feedback of the Zipwake and glad you are happy with the. They look pretty slick. I installed my trim tabs after Paul did his, and it really does make a nice difference.

Hi,
Anyone know how to get the 'econ' function on the 6Y8 speed/fuel display to work? Mine just skips over that function when I press 'mode'. Thx.

I don’t have that model of gage on my 795. You may have already done this but looking at the 6Y8 manual I would access the custom menu and go to Econ settings and make sure it’s set to display.
This is what I found in the manual. “ECON You can select to show miles per gallon (mpg), nautical miles per liter (nm/l), kilome- ters per liter (km/l) or not to show the dis- play. The default setting is miles per gallon (mpg).“
Cheers, Ron

Took delivery of my 2019 NC 795 last week. I found out now that I have the boat at home, that the three 110 volt outlets + the fourth outlet under the sink for a hot water heater don't have power. The 110 volt breaker box in the front floor of the Salon has power with a green LED that is on, and the Battery Charger is working which is the breaker on the right. I have turned the battery charger breaker off and back on to verify that breaker is the power feed to the battery charger. By the schematic in the owners manual the two breakers on the left are for the 3 cabin outlets and the hot water heater outlet.
I even plugged in the shore power for the air conditioner on the port side of the boat just to make sure that wasn't the feed for the 110 outlets.
I'm wondering if anyone has had or seen this problem ? Is there a ground fault interrupter hiding somewhere or some kind of a kill switch for shore power ?
Thanks Rob

Hi Rob, I haven’t seen the 2019 NC795 yet, but on previous 795 models the shore power is on the starboard side. do you have an inverter? If you don’t have an inverter the 110 outlets won’t work while not on shore power. If you do have an inverter then your charger is more than likely a combo inverter/charger. I have an 1800watt inverter/charger and there is a breaker called Inverter outlet, and if that’s off then the shore power to the inverter is also off, which means no power to the 110 outlets. I also have an outlet under the salon table and there is an additional switch that controls the 110 outlets and is also a ground fault, so if you have one be sure it’s on. Hope this helps.

Captain Ron, You are the MAN !!! As soon as I saw your pictures I knew I had 2 of those switches under the table next to the air conditioner cold air return and next to the one outlet. One switch is for the outlet under the table and the water heater outlet under the sink / stove. The other is for the bedroom outlet and the one near the gas burner / sink. I was told by a technician at the dealership when I asked, they were switches for the blowers for the air conditioner, one for the salon and one for the bedroom I never took a close look at them, they do have a test button !!! I do not have an Inverter only a charger and my breaker box is a little different than yours, I tried to attach pictures but I don't know how yet. It wants an ---- ?? Thank you very much for the help !! Rob PS - Just saw how to do pictures, I'll set up an account so I can send picture next time.

Glad to hear that was it. I remember when I first took delivery there were some items not explained very well that I have since learned as I have gotten to know the boat. 😊
I will admit I’m a bit envious of your AC. One of the things I love about the NC/Merry Fisher boats are the large unobstructed windows, but that also has its downside in that it can really heat up the salon. I’ve been looking for a small portable cooling system, but haven’t come up with a solution yet. Would be interesting to know what others have done or are thinking? I am working on an air scoop prototype to direct air in the cabin while underway, so I’ll see how that works out.
Regarding photos, I use Imgur. I tried getting 23hq to work, but I could never get the registration activated, although I know others are using it.

Has anyone installed a sonar transducer on the transom? Is there anything to watch out for? I have totalscan unit that I’m going to attach and I’m not sure how thick the fiberglass is at the bottom. What about routing the cable in?

Hello All, I purchased a used MF 755 in British Columbia in late 2017, the boat is from 2014, dark blue, with a Yamaha F200. We have spent the last 1.5 years upgrading her while using the boat throughout the Howe Sound.
The upgrades that have been completed are:
1. Roof rack with roof mounted standup paddleboard holders. 2. Clarion GR10BT sound system which provides amazing sound on these boats, with both interior and exterior speakers. 3. BBQ mounted on the starboard side hand rail. 4. Rod holders mounted on the upper hand rails by the sliding door. 5. LED interior strip light mounted around the cabin windshield, front, starboard, and port. 6. Roof mounted thule basket for traps. 7. Replaced cabin table with homemade hardwood table. 8. Added downrigger mount to starboard side, similar mounting to Captain Ron!
The upgrades that I would love some input on, which I would like to complete this winter are: A. Has anyone installed an awning, either retractable or fixed, at the back of the boat. This is a much needed addition. Any information would be greatly appreciated on how you mounted it. I am considering building a retractable awning or an awning that can mount to some tubing that is adjustable in the two stern rod holders.
B. We would like to install a diesel air heater (Webasto, Planar or Espar) and I'm looking to find the best type and location to install one. Any good/bad experiences would be appreciated.
The boat has been great, despite a few annoying issues. The main issues that I have learned from along the way are: 1. Don't trust the setup of the fuel gauge, mine read and currently reads about 50% when the boat is nearly out of gas. 2. The factory battery switches that came on the 755 can sporadically fail to disconnect the 12V circuit. This is discussed elsewhere in this forum however it stems from a nut that loosens within the red handle on each disconnect switch. Make sure that these are tightened and always turned clockwise. 3. The fuel tank vent line was tied out of the way with two large zip ties from the factory. This year, the zip ties caused a kink in the vent, making for an annoying week of troubleshooting. Although only sightly kinked, the vent line caused the engine to bog down above 2000rpm. 4. I am still tracing through a few minor leaks in the boat. Most seem to be caused by caulking that is wearing on the stainless screws, or just screws that are loosening over time. As your 795's age, keep in mind that all screws need tightening and re-caulking. Also, the factory rod holders have bottom covers that are caulked in place and will fall off. I currently have a very tiny leak at the front of the hull, right under anchor chain box. If any of you have dealt with similar leaks, it would be great to develop a group to troubleshoot them. The main fun part about this boat is that they are so compartmentalized that areas are fun to access. I have been cutting access holes in the wooden hull panels as required. I'll post some pictures as I figure out how! www.23hq.com/JNorris/photo/50316845/originalwww.23hq.com/JNorris/photo/50316632/originalwww.23hq.com/JNorris/photo/50316649/original www.23hq.com/JNorris/photo/50316718/original

Hi, I’m in the process of swapping in an old creaky 1988 motorboat (Limestone, for aficionados of Canadian boats) for a 2017 NC795. I guess "Merry Fisher" and "NC" are synonyms in the context of this forum? The body of water I mostly navigate is called "Howe Sound" (a relatively small part of the Pacific ocean) and I notice that jnorris and howesounder, on this forum, are there too. I’m wondering if we could organize a meetup perhaps involving adult beverages (I’m buying) to talk about issues and improvements and so on. This forum doesn’t make it easy to connect, but my handle here is also my address at gmail.com.

Hi Tim, Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will enjoy your new purchase for many years to come.
You will find lots of interesting and useful information and helpful folks too.
Malcolm has beaten me to it on the personal messages system. There is a tab under the forum banner that takes you straight there. However some people read without signing in, so don’t see the message indicator, (I am a serious offender anyway) so if you just make a brief post telling them you have sent a pm, they will know to check in to see it.
The Howe sound looks like a wonderful waterway. Far from here but I have looked longingly through the window of the bus on the highway northbound from Vancouver. Even in winter it looks inviting, though I guess you have to keep an eye open for floating logs.
I look forward to hearing about your adventures in this new chapter of your boating.

Pleased to meet you all, and thanks for the tip. Howe Sound is excellent 12 months of the year but the floating logs are always a problem. When we're going at any speed, it's really necessary to have someone in the front seat riding shotgun so there are two pairs of eyes looking for logs.
