Hi there As a new owner of a 32SOi, I've also inherited a fixed bimini, which is fantastic for shade here in Asia, but prevents the boom sheeting in properly.. and that's on top of the coachroof based mainsheet system. I'm thinking of taking a couple of inches out of each post to lower the bimini (I'm fairly short to allow the mainsheet to be more centred and take the bagging out of the main, but also wondered if any other SO32i owners have mainsheet trimming tips for heading to windward. Is it worth installing a track and traveller system, which I've seen on other posts here? Many thanks.

I've seen a few boats where they put on a dodger, but the dodger is too high for the boom to lower properly. So the sail shape is not correct, and it will not point etc worth a dang. If you have not verified the foot of the main is correct per say, that could be one place to start.
Otherwise, you can play with the current track or lower the dodger/bimini as mentioned. If the booms is hitting the dodger or bimini, I would suspect it is too high. A sail recut would help, or lower bimini dodger.

Also thought about cutting the sail to increase boom height, as was wondering would you have to also change the reefing points to match.

Thanks - I think reducing the main might be the simplest solution - hadn't thought of that! I might splash out and get a new one..
