I haven't worked for 5.5 months and even with all that free time, I've only spent a couple of weeks onboard and have yet to leave the marina this year, but that is about to change Yesterday I signed the papers agreeing to sell my apartment and as long as the buyers bank approves the purchase, I will no longer have a home on the dirt in a month's time Now the pressure is on to sell, throw out or store for eventual shipping to Aus my life in Sweden. In preparation for this I just did one last road trip in my Merc having fun on the German Autobhans and on the way back I collected my first speeding fine in Sweden after living here for 15 years with fast cars and bikes. Thankfully I just stayed within the licence keeping range as no licence in the next couple of weeks would be a pain. I'm excited and yet scared

Hoppy,
What a transformational time on your life. I guess it is liberating unloading all of those possessions in preparation for the new life in Aus. Good luck with it all. I hope Australia hasn't changed too much and still lives up to your expectations.
Regards

I was wondering about the silence from your end for these last few weeks!
We too are on the move. The week before we were headed to the boat, some random chap swung by and bought my bed! Fortunately for me, I was off on a biz trip next morning, so had the rest of the week enjoying the comforts of the Marriott Courtyard whilst my lovely wife enjoyed the blow up. We are 5 weeks away from liveaboard life. Work doesn't seem to understand what "I want to leave" means though. Looks like my intention to hand in my 30 days notice has turned into a 2 year leave of absence. Nice to be wanted I guess.
See you in Greece sometime this summer then Hoppy?

Regards I can worry about Aus in a few years when I have to face reality and stop the cruising But it has changed a lot and I'm prepared for that, not sure if I will like it though

PT Been working at half pace dragging it out. I guess knowing that my sailing will be long this year make me feel that there is not such a rush. Last time I was onboard I was there for a week and other than to go in bow first to fit the new chain, the boat never moved. If I was limited to "holidays" I would have probably gone out. My apartment is full of rented furniture as the stylist I employed to get the place looking good for prospective buyers did not like any of my stuff. It's not home now... All my stuff that I have not sold is in my store room. My sofa goes to tomorrow and I snooped on the buyer in Facebook and it seems that they look like they have a Formosa in the Caribbean. Nice option with 2 years off. My former client was a bit confused why I did not chase them up as they were bumbling around with my contract renewal and when they finally realised they had screwed up were probably miffed by my lack of desire to "renew" 6 weeks after my contract expired and did not like their offer which did not even match the rate I was on a year earlier. buffoons!!! See you in Greece sometime this summer then Hoppy? Very possible... I'll be slowly making my way from Corfu to Kos around the Peloponnese before probably going to Turkey in August. May then rush back to Corfu unless I find a better winter location

We've been on board almost a week and haven't moved at all. Mainly that's due to being let down by the carpentry shop not finishing the interior refurb, and the engineering shop not building the arch to the correct design. Turned up with all our stuff only to find nowhere to stow our gear, and not looking like things will be any better right up until push off date. Arch is coming along but interior is still in the same state.
Lots of little boat jobs keeping us busy. And still plenty of cockpit time to watch the sights and enjoy life.
We're meeting some friends in Kos in July, so may well bpump into you.
Enjoy.
Cheers PT.

Well we're back on board for the summer but that was 3 weeks ago. We've made it all the way from Viveiro to A Coruna - 80 miles. Now waiting for the weather to help us get a little further south. Nice to be back in our second home but a little light Northerlies would be nice and less than 3 meter seas.
Anyway next week booked a couple of nights in a hotel in Santiago de Compostela to our friends sing some 14th century mass music. Always ways to amuse yourselves.

I'm finishing up my annual 6-month liveaboard right now. Only 2 more weeks to go and I'll sleep ashore for the first time in a long time! I left the hardstand and three nights at the dock early this year and the boat hasn't touched land once since then - neither a dock nor a grounding.
One can get used to living aboard, particularly with the comforts that a Jeanneau offers. Have fun!

Good for you, so jealous living the dream. Also glad to hear about more Jeanneau's going offshore. We hope to do the same sometime in the future (I keep blaming work for taking up all my time, but know that sometimes you just need to say forget it). Glad you are taking the bold step.
