For Christmas I got the book "Brave or Stupid". Or "How does a middle aged, seasick electrician with no money end up sailing around the world".
It's about two swedish friends (both electricians), of which one is always seasick, who never sailed before. During a holiday they had the idea of a circumnavigation. The idea stuck and 24 hours later, the two had an iron-clad agreement: a handshake. The little details - buying a boat, learning to sail and saving up money - took 5 years, but in 2002, the two friends left Sweden on a three year voyage that would change them forever. Storms, tropical diseases, drama, love and comedy - their story is a real adventure.
I found it, besides hilarious, also very informative and what I also liked about it, is that it is at least a little bit more up to date, eventhough it is like a good 10 years ago. But you recognise a lot more of the world as we now know it, compared to the famous crusing stories from the 70-ties and 80-ties. Ok, they are not on a Jeanneau (Hallberg Rassy 42 ketch), but the info is as valuable to anyone with extended voyage aspirations and in that respect a must have book.

I hope you like it as much as I did. I am reading it for a second time now, but now to mark all the places where they have been and what their comments were.
