Last summer I was noticing that sometimes I needed to use a bit of force to get the headsail to start coming out and when playing with the roller realised there was something not right. Today I got an email from the people who are doing the winter work to show me what they found when they removed the forestay to investigate the problem. It seems that the rivet connecting the feeder was rubbing. Normally I get the rigging checked each winter and always wondered what the condition of the forestay was. It has got me thinking whether it is a good idea to take off the forestay every few years.
