While I'm laid up here waiting for replacement parts, I've started to sand and revarnish some of the more scratched up areas on the boat and have a question about the cabin sole. It is the standard floor, which looks like a laminate emulating teak and holly.
What can I do to the sole to make it look better? It is a bit scuffed up and I can sand it - but don't know what I can put on the surface - a 2-part matte varnish? Any suggestions from other owners?

I had good results with a one part polyurethane varnish that is made for bowling alley floors; I can´t remember the name though, but my cabin sole was wood; not laminate. I don´t know whether varnish will stick to plastic laminate. You could try buffing it with special compunds for formica and other laminates. Good luck!

Notorious - didn't bowling alley varnish make the floor rather slippery?

zanshin - not really, anyway inside the cabin only bare feet are allowed!
