I've just bought a 43DS berthed in Turkey and need to know the overall dimensions of the liferaft stowage cover set in the transom so that I can order the correct size of vinyl graphic for her new name. Can any of you guys with a 43DS help? Many thanks, El Tel

Hello eltel - I will post the dimensions later, I'm living aboard my 43DS and can measure it when I get back to the boat. I need to put my liferaft up on deck, as I have a generator tucked into that space.

This was embarassing - I wanted to measure the dimensions earlier and realized, to my dismay, that the only method I have of measuring onboard was on a Leatherman tool! I will visitin the hardware store on the island tomorrow and get a tape measure.
postscript - this is Easter Monday and the only places open here on Virgin Gorda are the bars! One more day to wait, sorry.

I'm not sure what went wrong - I know I posted the dimensions ages ago but just noticed that they aren't there. I measured a rectangular box with a width of 40 inches and a height of 25.5 inches. This is the full external size, the opening has equal sized upper and lower doors that are 37.5 by 11.5 inches large.
(sorry, all I got was a tape measure in inches...)

Many thanks Zanshin - I fly out to Turkey on Friday to use the boat for the first time and can now use the correctly sized graphics for her name change. Concerned about your rudder stock though. It seems a participant in last years ARC with a SO43 also suffered the same problem and the boat had to be abandoned mid-atlantic.

eltel - I've had several opinions so far and some have pointed out it might be an engineering or a materials flaw. I have done a cursory search for other 43DS's that might have had a rudder problem with no luck - do you have any further information on the boat from last year's ARC?
