Does anyone have experience of sailing the Sun 2000 singlehanded? Are the sheets too far away from the Tiller? It seems quite a distance.

Hi Swampy,
Are you joking? Of course the S2K can be sailed single handed (it's a 20 ft boat). In fact, you can rig it single handed, launch it from the trailer single handed, and recover it single handed. I'll bet you could even raise the assym spinny single handed with the right gear. Have you seen a S2K? I assume your are in Europe right? There are over 1243 S2K's in an around Europe, you should really check one out in person. The main sheet is attached to the cockpit sole, and the tiller has an extension (you will need this in winds over Force 2) The cockpit is large (as big as the big boys boats), but you can still easily reach the jib lines and the winches. Hi Mat, (It's John from our earlier email discussions) If you may recall, my hull number is 1245, and the build date on my boat is 06/2007, so my best guess was there are at least 1244 of these . The number is definately not official. I think the only way yo get this information is to keep track of the hull numbers on the boats as they are sold and the owners post on the web. On the other hand, maybe the hull numbers have nothing to do with the number of boats built and sold, but I doubt this. Please keep up the great work on your S2K website! It is a great resource for new and prospective owners. John

Hi John, Of course I know who you are ! :-) I remember now the number of your boat. But are you sure that the build date is 06/2007 ?? 07/2006 would be more logical, don't you think so ? I asked the question ( number of units) to Jeanneau and Olivier Petit by mail. Wait and see... Thanks for the comments about the website. Mat sun2k.free.fr
