Hello I didn't knew name of the knot on halyard, so please educate if you noticed from pictures below ? Also would be interesting to know what is your preferred knot for halyard, what I think is not needed to be able to open ? I would use something like round turn & two half hitches, but that can be opened afterward Also I found interesting web pages for knots, see below the link. www.animatedknots.com/One wish - please use full names what I can google to find what they are Preparing for summer, -Martti My copy of "The handbook of Knots (Des Pawson)" says this is a Stevedore know (page 33)

It's been such a long time anybody wrote on this thread, I am wondering if any of the original participants will ever see this post. I have found the same knot used to tie the mainsheet halyard to the shackle on my Dufour and have been trying to figure out the name of the knot as well. I came accross a knot called "Noeud de Franciscain" or "Heaving line knot" in english as clouded on the attached picture, that looks like it could be it. Pages from Noeuds.pdf (37.58 KB)
