Hi anyone, The panel above is from an NC11, mine was running perfectly 2 weeks ago, shut it all down and switched off the Locking key at the top of this panel. But now its dead as a doornail? Its had shore power all the time, both battery chargers are working but I don't get a green light so consequently no 12v power to the whole ship so nothing works. Any ideas? Where does the power come from to this 'ignition key'? Are there any fuses further back on supply side to the batteries? Is it likely this would just trip out?

Are the main battery switches turned on? On my SO35, there are big rotating switches on the positive side for the motor and house batteries as well as a similar switch for ground. If they are off, you would not see 12 volts at the panel.

As far as I know, there is no other switch between battery and key-switch at the panel. Did you check if there is power at the entrance of the switch-key? Are the red leds powered? Do you hear some noice when you try switching on red switch to green? if necessary, in my (humble) opinion, you can force the power switches in the aft cellar. See attached picture.

Hanzel,
Thanks.
This is the problem, everything has to be energised to bring power from engine room ( no rotary switches to switch off) I have not checked power prior to the Locking Key as the panel needs to be removed to do so.
I will over-ride the relays by forcing the power switches in Technical room ( in your picture) and get the motors started, if this doesnt work then it would appear I have lost all battery power, but this would mean both battery chargers are not working??.
I will let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Phil

Hi Phil, I would start with checking the batteries, easy and at the real begin of the line.
Keep me posted as I still like to learn about our beautiful boats.
best regards and success Hans

I have another question to you Phil, to get shore power at your outlets (110 or 230 volts), do you need to do something with the other panel? In my boat, the 3 way switch (left - 0 - richt) does not affect anything. I have always power at my outlets when at shorepower.
thanks for your reaction. br Hans

Hi Hans, the 3-way switch is just for the instrument (voltmeter) to show voltage from the left hand side inlets or the right hand side inlets, in middle position the instrument is off. As shown on the picture you just have shore power 1 (no generator 1 or 2, no 2nd shore power, etc.) all places for the switches on your panel are void. So there is nothing to route or to switch over. I assume as soon as you are connected to shore power your outlets are on. (picture with all switches attached) I have modified my panel a bit to switch between shore power, generator and inverter. Thanks Andreas, I was affraight this was the case indeed. Not able to control the outlets give me a unsatisfying feeling, on our previous boat we were in control in this. Can you explain what you changed, I have only shore power and inverter, no generator. On your picture I see some switches, at mine there are only some led’s exactly as on the picture of zero7.
thanks and cheers to you too. Hans

Hi Hans, since you are missing the switches on the panel, I also assume that the matching box next to the 230V fuse distribution is also completely missing. In this box, each switch is assigned a power contactor and a fuse to switch the voltage to the sockets / consumers. Box with power contactors If you don't have this box maybe you have some spare space inside the 230V fuse distribution to install a power contactor (next to the one for switching the boiler on and off) for switching over from shore power to inverter with a switch mounted to your panel? 230V fuse distribution box You probably have just 5 fuses so there is some space for a power contactor. Thanks Andreas, my box is the “ simple one” with indeed some extra space for extra fuses. I think I understand what you did and when the boat is floating again in 2 months, I will check possibilities. Keep you posted.
Thanks for now and have a great season and when you decide to visit Holland with your boat ( many German people sail in Holland), give me a message, perhaps we can have a beer together and exchange nice smart things, adaptions and techniques.
See you on the water, best regards, Hans

Hi Hans, thank you. Same to you, have a got start and a nice season!
When you decide to visit Germany with your boat (many Dutch people sail also in Germany), give me a message, perhaps we can have a beer together and exchange nice smart things, adaptions and techniques. ;-)
And don't hesitate to contact me if you go further with this project.
