Hello dear forum members,
we have bought a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42CC (year 1998) and urgently need the electrical circuit diagram and the manual in good quality.
We have a copy of the manual, but our problem is that a large part of the manual is illegible, especially the electrical circuit diagram.
Can someone send us with the manual in good reading quality? Jeanneau has unfortunately only sent us an illegible copy.
Many thanks and greetings
Doreen and Rudi

Hi Doreen and Rudi
Try an email to client.service@jeanneau.fr include as much information on your yacht as possible, including year of build and the Hull HIN number. They will respond for sure when they are back from holidays. They will respond to either French or English. Please let the group know if they supply them to you. Good luck. Malcolm

We received the following answer to our question:
"Hello et Happy New Year, I'm sorry but as you see, documents are old and we haven't got manual more clear. We invite you to contact our dealers who can help you technically. Best regards
Service Relation Clients Customer Service Department"
Now we will try to get the requested information from a dealer.

That is a real shame. At least they replied, have you any information at all from them? Another prospective 42cc owner has just joined the forum and I have pointed him to your recent threads on the yacht. Might be worth getting in touch with each other? 2 minds are often better than 1, certainly in my case.... Good luck Malcolm

Try Ian Scott at Clarke and Carter the dealers in Essex UK, he might be able to find something in his archives. ian@clarkeandcarter.co.uk Malcolm

Thank you, we will do that.
A German dealer wrote us the following:
"Unfortunately there is nothing more to get for your ship in the system,
alternatively I can only offer a circuit diagram of the current 41DS.
I hope that you may get a little further with this."

Unfortunately this is not surprising to us. Jeanneau cannot even provide propper documentation for brand new sailboats. We tried and failed on several occasions. We wonder why the dealer should have all those diagrams - the dealer is not the outpost of the factory. He just tries to keep frustrated customers happy and Jeanneau is not supportive. We have the third new Jeanneau (349 - 389 - 410 Performance now) but because of the behavior of the manufacture this is our last Jeanneau. If they are unwilling to support with technical details on a new boat what will happen when we have an acute problem? I don’t think that customers should have to rely on this forum to get help. The forum is nice to connect but does not release Jeanneau of a decent customer support. To Doreen und Rudi: Viel Glueck und hoffentlich kann euch jemand mit dem Schaltplan helfen! Viele Gruesse, Cornelia

Hello Cornelia,
thank you very much for your answer.
We also think that actually Jeanneau should have the documents. After all, they were created once and are available in copy. And 1998 was an age where computers were already in use. So there should also be original files. This is really sad.
Let's hope for the best.
All the best also for you.
Many greetings Doreen and Rudi

Hi Doreen and Rudi,
I hope you are enjoying your 42cc. I am considering a 1998 42cc, however I have read somewhere on the internet that the keel bolts are glassed-in (covered in fibreglass). Can you confirm what you see when lifting the sole boards above the keel - were you or your surveyor able to sound test the keel bolts with a hammer?
Additionally do you have the displacement and keel weights? I have seen 3 different displacements/weights from varying places on the internet. I'm guessing the nearest would be the figures displayed for the Jeanneau 42.2 which appears to be the aft cockpit version of the same boat??!! The CC that I'm considering is shoal draft.
Jeanneau are unable to help unless they have the HIN, I'm looking at the boat this week
Many thanks
David
