Hello everyone I'am new here and hope, this is the right place for this thread. I have a Scheiber relay on my anchor control. But it is not used. I want to use it. I don't know exactly what it is for. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any information on the internet yet. It's probably very old. Do any of you have one? Does anyone have a schematic or manual for this? REF: 36.09307.00 Commande Guindeau Jeanneau P0031650 Scheiber LOT: 804926 The Boat: Sun Odyssey 42.2 (1999) Thanks for every Help! Greetings Fabian

There's an old thread here, Windlass Problems, but that won't be too helpful as it doesn't have a link to the manual. Did you remove wires from the relay? Typically they will have + and - high-power coming in, and + and - high power going to the windlass. Then they will have 3 low-power lines going to the up/down switch. I only counted 5 wires in the picture.

Hi Fabian, welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your purchase. You will find a wealth of information in the archives to help you.
Regarding that relay, do you have the Jeanneau manual for the boat, and in particular, the wiring diagrams? I suspect that these will be more helpful than the relay manufacturers manual in understanding the purpose of the relay and how it is connected to the boat system, and how it is intended to work. It will also help you identify associated components, fuses etc. any of which may be relevant to the problem.
A couple of thoughts that might help you better define the question:-
You generally need the engine running in order to operate the winch. This is generally enforced by a relay.
Have you had the engine running when you tried it? Have you tried with a voltmeter whether there is power at the terminal of the wire from the battery?
Does the winch have its own battery near the bow, and is that battery fully charged?
Are there any other symptoms you can describe which might help focus in on the issue.

rene460 - I don't think that the OP has a non-functioning anchor windlass; just that relay that isn't being used. Since a relay of some sort is essential, there might be another one wired in elsewhere. I'm sure that fabianb will update his question.

Hi Zanshin,
I’m sure you are correct. I am also hoping that Fabian will come back with more details of his problem.

Hello and Happy New Year So, I can inform the following: - The windlass and the operation has worked well so far. Because I sail solo I have installed an anchor winch operation from the cockpit. That's why I looked at all the electricity of the windlass in the first place. - Unfortunately I don't remember exactly how it was plugged in at the beginning. I unplugged a few things before I took a souvenir photo. My mistake. - In the manual, this box is referred to as "Option Boîtier sécurité guindeau". So it's an optional security. - I think it is as described in the other thread by "jboatman", a check that the engine and alternator are running so that the windlass can be used. - However, I know that this was already manipulated beforehand. I was able to operate the windlass without starting the engine. - I wrote "Scheiber" an email. If I get an answer, I'll write it here. - I have decided not to use this security box anymore. I want to be able to use my anchor windlass without the engine running. Yes, I know I have to keep an eye on the starter battery. Now it looks like this and works fine:
