Hi all, My partner and I have recently become the proud owners of a SUN FAST 37 and found the forum earlier today! I’m still studying the purchase survey and wondering where to start 😳but I can see that there is a wealth of information here! The questions will be coming soon😜

Congratulations! The Sun Fast 37 is an excellent design. Enjoy your boat and do ask if you have any questions. Look on the main website for Hints and Tips and manuals etc.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forum.
If my understanding is correct I believe your sunfast 37 is the more performance rated with a taller rig and more sail area than the Sun Odyssey 37. But the hulls and interior are similar though.
You won't be disappointed with your purchase (providing you were happy with her surveyor's report) and I have the SO 37.
They are a fantastic boat loads of cockpit and big down below for 37 footer. Can tend to slam when the weather picks up, but avoiding heading into the waves perpendicular can make for a more comfortable passage when the weather picks up.
The very best of luck !

Yes SunFast is the same as your SO37 except for the tall rig, possibly a deeper keel, and the most noticeable difference is the mainsheet and traveler in the cockpit instead of the coach roof.

Yeah I'd forgotten about the main traveler in the cockpit personally I'd prefer that. As a single hander I like everything within arms reach. But in today's patio sized cockpits and modern designs. I fear sometimes too much thought goes into aesthetics and sometimes actual practical sailing goes off the drawing board. While the traveler in the cockpit is fine for racing and single handed I believe as the two models Sunfast and SO are basically the same boat design. The reinforcement should be in the coach roof if the OP would like to remove the cockpit traveler and secure it to the coach roof.
