I didn't need to pull my alternator in order to change the impeller on my 49DS Yanmar - but it was still a lot of work and I once had to do it while rolling about in seas outside of English Harbour in Antigua. It would be good to know how this could be made easier and how to do it in 10 minutes without being a contortionist It would be nice if the original poster could just provide the information here on the public forum for all to see rather than through a PM, though.

Best tips I’ve read for impeller replacement….
1. Always use a puller, although TBH using tin-snips to chop off the vanes seems worth a try.
2. Pre-curl and compress the new impeller vanes with a cable tie, insert, cut the tie to release the vanes
