Hi,
Anyone know the spec for the anodes on a 37, MY 2001.
I am getting lifted for a race scrub next week and want to change them but can't check the sizes before I get lifted to order them in advance.
Thanks,
Gareth

Thanks, Gareth You can measure the shaft diameter from inside the boat. That's really all you need to know. (The shaft will likely be metric).

Also you can measure the stud spacing for the hull pear anode , and get one in advance. Just leaves the unknown prop anode, might be a bucket type often sold as beneteau / Jeanneau prop nut anode, … but there are a couple of sizes to choose from.

A large lump (usually 2Kg / 4.4Lbs) of zinc, shaped like a pear sliced in half lengthways , bolted to the hull with two studs, apparently the shape is kind toward the aqua dynamics if bolted onto the hull with the broad end to the fore …….. but I don’t think it makes a blind bit of difference, and is often used as the main anode on the hull.
Perhaps the phrase ‘pear’ needn’t have been mentioned , and just ‘hull anode’ would have sufficed, as they are also available in other forms, but many over this side of the pond are pear shaped.
Hope that clears up any fruity confusion .

My last boat had a zinc on the prop shaft, and that all I ever needed. My Jeanneau has a shaft zinc, a strut zinc and a prop zinc and I consider that way overkill. What food is a zinc on the hull?

Many engines would be connected to the hull zinc, hopefully the engine is not in the sea water, but it has seawater running through it, and the connection of engine through gearbox to shaft anode doesn’t always make for a good electrical connection.
It is also a throw back to the school of thought, which some still agree with, that all metallic below water items should be bonded , and the fixing studs provide a reasonable place to connect them to the anode. My view is to leave through hulls isolated and change them every 3-4 years, but each to their own.
My hull anode , just connected to the engine , does get eaten, but very slowly, and I would think is probably going to last many years.

2004 SO is 25mm. Zinc anode for salt and Magnesium for fresh water.

My 2002 SO37 has a 25mm shaft (which was verified when I changed the prop to a feathering prop).
However….the first year I owned it, I bought a 25mm magnesium anode and was not happy with the fit (too small). So I have been using 1” anodes for 6 years now and feel that they are perfect. I put a new one on every other year. Short sailing season up here in the frozen northeast! 🥶🥶
