Hi,
I just bought an '22 MF/NC795 Series 2 with 250 Verado.
It has the standard Trim tabs. Zipwake sounds like it is really a neat system.
Looking at pictures if I was to change my Boat to Zipwake it seems like there would be some Gel/fiberglass work involved.
Has anyone done this yet? Any idea of the cost?
Any downsides to Zip Wake? Do regular trim tabs have any advantages?
Thanks

Our 2020 795 had the regular trim tabs and our 2023 795 has the Zipwake system and what a difference. The Zipwake is set it and forget it. The boat stays level except at the slowest speeds and takes another item you have to think about off the menu.

Keeps the boat level at all cruising speeds. It is called auto glide system. It uses accelerometers, gyroscopes and software to optimize the performance. Utilizes gps and engine data to keep the boat at the most efficient running angle. However, in comparison with Zipwake, I dont know how effective this system may be. Zipwake is getting popular. By the way, I am using my factory installed Lenco trim tabs all down in strong wheather. The rocking is reduced considerably. Also during docking, with minimum speed, all down helps the boat the keep better course. Boat is 795.

If the target is to set and forget, there are number of ways. On previous boat I used Mente Marine Autotrim control what is very handy and easy to use. You don't need to change the whole system. I can highly recommend that www.mente-marine.com/acs-products/On new to us MF795 just installed Zipwake with 300mm interceptors as there were no trim tabs installed and Zipwake seemed to be winner in terms of compact design of interceptors vs regular sharp edged trim tabs. Interceptors (does not matter Zipwake or Volvo Penta) are usually quicker in operation, have far more compact outer components design and can be connected to NMEA2000 network to be controlled via MFD.

I have zipwake on my 895 but not had the chance to test because it only goes in the water next month. My mate has them on a 1095 and swears by them.
To throw something else in the mix there is a new system called Ride Control I believe which is made by Sea Keeper. It is supposed to be 10 faster than any blade system attracting which would be another step up. Not sure if they are selling aftermarket yet but worth speaking to them.

We have Zipwake on our 895 Sport and are very happy with the performance. Well worth the cost, automatic operation and pretty much maintenance free.
