Can someone with a SO 45 measure and let me know the pin diameter of the pin holding the gooseneck in place?
Thanks, Dan

Hi dbbd,
It looks like you did not receive an answer to your previous query.
The washers on the pin are almost certainly stainless steel preferably type 316, but if you are unable to get 316, 304 will do until you get a chance to buy the better material.
Regarding size, as no one has answered, make the best guess you can and buy washers in that size plus the next one or two sizes above and below. Washers are not expensive and a few extra in the tool box will not go astray. The washer does not have to be really close fitting so you can safely assume it is a standard size.
The Selden mast seems to be all metric, so try and get metric size washers, but again, the nearest imperial size will also do until you have better information. Not sure about other mast brands. When you get somewhere with more facilities you can change it if necessary. All assuming you still have the pin and a wire or split pin to hold it in place.
I hope this helps.

I'm looking for the same information: my gooseneck pin is tired, and slides down a little, coming out of the top section of the gooseneck. I sail a Sun Odyssey 45, same as dbbd, below. Since the boat is 1.5hrs away, I'd like to purchase a pin locally and replace it when I get to the marina. Obviously, I checked my owner's manual, to no avail. Am I right in assuming that a stainless steel bolt or large pin will do, provided it is of the proper diameter? Thanks everyone!

From this picture, it seems like the problem may be not only the pin. I had to replace the gooseneck fitting on my SO35 because the hole was worn by the pin and was no longer round. The pin was in good condition. It looks like that may be the case here also.
At the very least, I would recommend that you disassemble it and examine the pin and other parts to see what you actually need to replace.
