Hi fellow boat owners, Has anyone added any sound insulation on the hull under floors, front bunk and floor panels to help with noise and floor panels rattling? Just wondering if anyone thinks it may help?
Cheers

Hi Widebody, may I suggest that rather than trying to instal sound insulation to reduce the noise of those panels, that you work on stopping the panels from vibrating.
We had an annoying rattle from the engine access panels. My observation was that the panel was vibrating against its frame, rather than vibrating like a drum skin. I glued a little weatherstripping foam on the edge of the panels so they no longer moved, and no longer made any noise. I started experimenting by jamming a thin layer of foam in the suspect places. As I type this, I am now not sure that I ever got back to gluing the strips, but they worked a treat. A quick easy solution.

I too go along with the 'stopping the rattle' route, and use small sticky felt pads designed for the bottom of chair legs to stop them scraping a floor, available at all home ware stores in a variety of sizes. They seem to last for a couple of seasons before they fall off depending on how fussy I am cleaning the surface before application. The previous owner screwed a lot of boards down, which is another option , as long as you don't need to get into the space below often, or in a hurry.
I quite like the gentle lapping of water on hull whilst snoozing at anchor, if I didn't hear it I would dread that I had got things horribly wrong, and that I was snoozing whilst precariously balanced on a keel in mud with no water !!
